Seems to me, something looking rather like this showed up at our last Sun Fortune get together.
It stared rather accusingly, but we took little note of its opinion, and didn't let that slow us down very much. Disapproving gaze aside, it tasted just fine. |

![]() Okey dokey then Peeps. Just had a note from our culinary consultant. She would like an indication by October 4th of where we'll stand as far as numbers go for our Sun Fortune get together. She has to be out of town for a couple of weeks before the Peep Meet, and wants to be sure we have enough seating arranged for everybody to be comfy before she leaves. Last time, we ended up being a bit "chummy" around the table. I got a chop stick in the eye, and elbows in the ribs several times. So, we have to have an idea of how many intend to tie on the feedbag October 23rd. As this is written, we have 12 folks that have said they plan to attend. Any additions to the group shown in the initial post? The more the merrier, and there will likely be a little room for adjustments, but we'd like to know what to expect. Marj, Btodd, Lady Di, Lite, Laurelbay, anybody else from Winnipeg, or the surrounding area? We'd love to see you. Last edited by Bumper; 09-15-2010 at 08:20 AM.. |

Jmac is right. Mrs. B is deathly allergic to shrimp to, and she has never had a difficulty getting plenty to eat at Sun Fortune. Shrimp dishes may well appear - they're so popular - but just say no. There seems to be no problem with other things being cooked in proximity with shrimp either, which can be a concern as well. Rob should be fine.

![]() I, on the other hand, have typically eaten everything in sight at these events and could probably benefit from some food restrictions, now and then.

I can dig it. After a meal in a restaurant one time, I had sort of an upset stomach. Went to the quack, who asked what I had eaten. I told him I had enjoyed scallops for the first time, among other things. He said, "The scallops were good, where they?" I replied, "How do you know when they're good?" He said, "Well, when you took them out of the shell, did they look and smell okay?" I responded, "You're supposed to take them out of the shell?" Who knew? (They were pretty crunchy.)

About shrimp and other shellfish...
Just like to add, that I also share Mrs. B's adversion to shellfish and I had no trouble filling my plate and my stomach! It was a delightful experience and I can't wait to see you all again (especially to enjoy the Peking Duck! Yummy!)

Great news. We'll be looking forward to seeing you, Marj.
Well, that gets us up to 14 now, with some other possibles to be heard from. That will likely put us at two tables, but we'll be plenty close enough to share some conversation. Still lots of spots available, so don't be shy. We don't bite.....mostly. Can anybody think of someone from this neck of the woods we should be sending personal invites to? Some folks don't get on the forum very often, so they might not notice this thread. The more the merrier. |

We arrived about half an hour early for our last get together at Sun Fortune. The hostess asked, “Would you like to wait in the bar?” We went into the bar and the bartender said, “What will it be?” I replied, “Give me a Stoli with a twist.” The bartender paused for a few seconds, then smiled and said, “Once upon time, there were FOUR little peegs . . . ” BA-DUM-BUM!!
Anyway, folks, don't forget Eva needs to have a head count by October 4th, so we can make sure we've got the appropriate number of tables set aside. We're up to 14 so far. Please let us know if you'll be joining us for some.... |
