Winni”Pig” Peep Meet - Mark IX  So, now that Winni”Pig” Peep Meet - Mark VIII is history, it’s time to start thinking about the next get together of the Manitoba Division of the Mexican Mafia, for more delicious food, and wonderful fellowship. Yes indeed, it’s time to look forward to Winni”Pig” Peep Meet - Mark IX. The final order of business on the agenda of the last meeting of the social committee was to determine the particulars of the next rendezvous. A decision was reached, and met with unanimous and enthusiastic approval. Winni"Pig" Peep Meet - Mark IX edition, will take place at 7:00 PM, Saturday, October 23rd, 2010. And where will this eagerly-anticipated event take place? Ahhhh...that’s the question. We’re not going to tell you quite yet. Howzat for a teaser? You may rest assured, we guarantee you’ll be satisfied with our selection of venue, and you can be sure you’ll be “fed up.” We already have the usual bunch of suspects committed to making an appearance at the gathering, but we’re looking forward to other locals joining our happy throng of diners. Would you care to join our hungry horde? The more the merrier. There’s plenty of time to check your busy social calendar to see if it will allow you to make it out. Weekend visits to your summer cottage will likely have slowed down. It’s too early for your kid’s hockey or ringette season to eat up all your spare time. It’s not a real popular time to be doing much vacation travel. There’s no excuse for short notice making it a problem. So, give it some thought, and we’ll give you more information as to the “where”, in the fullness of time. Watch this spot for late-breaking news and developments.  Okay, okay, okay...it’s time to let the duck out of the bag. The venue for Winni”Pig” Peep Meet - Mark IX, will be the Sun Fortune Restaurant, 15 - 2077 Pembina Hwy, in Winnipeg. (In the strip mall just South of the Bishop Grandin underpass) If that name sounds familiar, that’s because this will be our group’s third visit to this marvelous Chinese eatery. The previous two trips were such a hit with The Manitoba Mexican Mafia, that we felt an encore was appropriate. (A half hour after you dine there, you want to go back again.) It’s really comfy rut. While the Peking Duck gets the majority of the press - and it should - there will be a wide variety of other delicacies presented for your approval and enjoyment. That’s where we have an ace in the whole. Eva & Victor Wong (The Suncos), are imports, and our own personal menu consultants. It doesn’t hurt when you speak the language fluently, know the owners, and have great taste. On our previous visits, we were treated to several dishes that don’t even appear on the menu. There will be things you recognize and are comfortable with. If you have a particular favourite dish, it will likely be on their extensive menu, and we can add it to the bill of fare. And there will probably be some offerings that will be a whole new dining experience for you. Bring along your spirit of culinary adventure. Oh yeah, they always have that delightful Tsingtao Chinese beer available (We made quite a sizeable hole in their inventory the last couple of outings.), plus all the more standard libations. There’s still lots of space available, so if you’re going to be in or around Winnipeg on Saturday, October 23rd, we can make sure there’s a chair for you. I even know where the probable spot is and look forward to it or if it changes, I'll still be there unless something major comes up.
