margarita making shortcut
I thought that I would share my new way to make margaritas. I drank these on our new boat this weekend and they were very refreshing.
2 parts tequila to one part triple sec. Add SIMPLY LIMEADE to taste. Simply Limeade can be found in the refrigerated section of the grocery store near their other juices. (This brand makes lemonade, grapefruit and orange juice also) The Simply Limeade could also be used to make mojitos. Instead of squeezing fresh lime juice and making simple syrup just use the limeade in place of that. |

I use lime juice that is sold in jars/bottles. It is made from concentrate Not quite as good as fresh squeezed but pretty good.. I use equal parts tequila, triple sec, lime juice. Not quite equal, I use a little less triple sec to make it not as sweet. The ratios are a matter of taste.. You can also use Cointreau in place of the triple sec for a nice twist.

I use more tequila and less triple sec. Sometimes a use the juice of a thin slice of orange to provide the orange flavor. Tequila and diet Squirt is very good also |

My new shortcut
![]() Takes less than half the effort of my old hand squeeze. To me, there is NO substitutions for fresh fruit, althought I sometimes use those new plastic "Ball" canning jars with the screw on lids and premix my margaritas in them to take places (boat mostly), then add ice and shake away (always at least 10 seconds). - Now, maybe I need one of these to take care of the salting part. http://shop.limetreecove.com/product...d-drink-rimmer - Last edited by Jimontheriver; 09-02-2010 at 06:55 PM.. |

As for the juicer, it is called "Freshforce Citrus Juicer" and is made Chefn. I got mine on Amazon.com for $18.95 + some other stuff so I got free shipping. Amazon.com: Chef'n FreshForce Citrus Juicer, Lime: Kitchen & Dining I think that Table La Sur Kitchen stores carry them also. Funny thing about the reviews for them on Amazon is that the green one got 5 stars & the yellow one got only 3 stars. So far I love mine, might even have to buy one on my friend Jimionthelake's condo inPlaya. This make my 6th juicer including an Orange-X Juicer, Amazon.com: Orange-X Professional Juicer: Kitchen & Dining The new one might only get 95% the juice as my others, but it is fast and easy and most of the limes in the stores around here are large enough to get plenty of juice to make a double or 2 singles just fine. |

They can sure squeeze some juice out of a lime. Not pretty - but functional.
