I went from Blackberry to Droid and have to say, much easier to learn than the blackberry was. I can download tons of free apps && it keeps me organized even more than my Blackberry did. (My phone isn't the actual Droid, but it is an android phone so same concept/interface).
I love the widgets function. I even have a countdown for the next Playa trip on my background. |

Yes. I have the HTC Desire and it's awesome!
HTC Desire review from TechRadar UK's expert reviews of Mobile phones I love it! Android phones are storming ahead in sales. Considering they are failrly new they rapidly gaining market share. I think they have overtaken Apple in the US now and the UK already previosuly. I am due for an upgrade next July...I have a Blackberry Pearl now and was thinking of either the BB Curve or maybe theTorch. I like the full QWERTY keyboard of the Curves -how is an android phone superior to a Blackberry? Convince me.
I use it for texting and internet browsing, mostly, and very infrequent phone calls....and the camera. |

I went from an old fashioned flip cell phone to a 'Droid (HTC Incredible) last week. Contemplated BlackBerry for email from work, we have a Blackberry server, but the built in app that comes with the HTC Incredible through Verizon syncs up fine with our Exchange 2007 server at work using ActiveSync, email, calendar and contacts; no need for the blackberry server.
Resolution is good. Lots of nice features. The HTC Incredible does not do well outside in strong sunlight, hard to see the screen. I'm not having in easy time getting used to the touch screen keyboard. I don't find a lot of stuff on it intuitive, but then again I went from an old flip phone to the 'Droid, so I have a lot of catching up to do. I think Apple is worried about the 'Droids. They are supposed to release iPhone for Verizon early next year. |

![]() The internet on the android looks exactly the same as when you access it from a real computer. A lot of sites were messed up (if they worked at all!) On my blackberry. Secondly, there are thousands of free apps (like an iphone has available) that you can download. I don't like to crowd my memory, but I do have a spanish verb flashcard app, a countdown app, period track (very useful!) and a fancy camera app that allows cool editing that would be otherwise unavailable on my phone. Not to mention all the social media that comes with the android phones...as if we weren't already over-sharing. Photobucket, facebook, myspace, shazam (a song tagging app that identifies a song you may hear)....yada yada. Plus the alarm and calendar features are great. I like that my calendar in my phone syncs with my gmail calendar. |

However, I love mine because it is soooooooo useful. Here are just a couple of things... E.g. I have the Google translate app - type in a phrase and it will give it me in Spanish. Click the speaker and it will speak it in Spanish (and vice versa - and in about 50 other lanuages too!). My phone has full google maps integration and full street view and GPS location. I can ask it to give me walking directions and it will show me the way in street view. The latest version beeps to tell you the next direction so you don't have to keep looking. In compass mode a can walk and look around as though I am actaully there. This really helped me recently when I went to a concert hall I didn't know.. Google Sky map lets me hold the camera toward the sky and will tell me all the names of all the stars and constellations etc as I scan across the sky. It will also let you search for certain planets by directing you till you have found it.. In Paris it latched onto WIFI often (and in the hotel) so I could virtually walk down the streets in Paris to find a restaurant before I went. The National rail widget keeps me updated about train times and delays etc. I have QWERTY keyboard but it is virtual. My keyboard (cost a tiny amount) learns the words you use and starts predicting next words as you type - save loads of time! I can also speak a text message and it will type it for me. It has full voice search too. I can save pdf, word docs etc on the phone and then read them. Good for the various research I have done prior to a trip. It has an amazingly responsive browser. Full pinch and Zoom (like the iPhone) and landcape / portrait. Make the internet actually usable on a phone. Also plays Flash video properly - and even has a dedicated YouTube player that looks great. It's also a very stable and responsive phone overall. My work colleague is that impressed he has hacked his Windows phone to use Android. No Itunes! It has Facebook app and 'friend stream' that keeps you up to date with all socilal networking etc. The Android market is growing at a phenomenal rate with thousnads of apps available. All Market place apps are try before you buy for 24 hours. (most only cost couple of pounds anyway) I won't bore you anymore! .. but maybe more useful than you think??? The battery life could be better - that's about the only negative but is true for most smart phones.. |

The latest software upgrade lets you store many apps and data on the micro SD card instead of using the phone memory.
I have just put in a 16GB SD card for this. Sites work great as previous poster mentioned (and handles flash too!). |

I've decided that if I get this job, I'm finally going to upgrade from my tiny, pay-as-you-go, non-texting, flip Tracfone.
What would others suggest for a low tech person? I want a regular keyboard for texting and internet access, but don't anticipate using a lot of bells and whistles (or apps, whatever they may be). Is there a poetry app? Mostly, I want to look ultra serious and preoccupied as if I were an Important Business Woman. |
