Tulum...any suggestions on where to stay?
Hi everyone,
Longtime lurker here. My hubby and I are planning to come back for our fourth trip except this time we are thinking of staying in Tulum. I value this website and the great people here who contribute with their wealth of knowledge and personal experiences, so I'm hoping you can help us with our decision on where to stay. We are looking for a beach bungalow style place. Nothing too fancy but nothing on the low end either. Thanks for any help

I've stayed at Tita Tulum and Om Tulum and recommend both.
Neither have A/C, Om has limited electricity (appx 7am-11pm). Both have restaurants. Om is in a stretch with several restaurants/beach clubs for better wandering at cocktail time. Tita has more of a bungalow feel and is spread out on a wider beach front. Om is a narrow property. Yes, check out tulum, mexico forum. The folk there are very helpful and there are some nice trip reports to look into. Also, check out Trip Advisor. Feel free to pm me. C |

Thanks Kathy and Carole!
I never thought about AC and just assumed it was the norm...I guess not. We'll be going in February (never been during that time), I would think that AC would still be needed or maybe there is a cool ocean breeze at night?? I'll check into the places that both of you mentioned and check out the Tulum site. I also hope to find out more info on Luna Maya and Tierras Del Sol. So far, those two hotels have caught my eye. Thanks! |

La Zebra also has nice cabanas and a good restaurant (same owner as Mezzanine). Don't think Mezzanine hotel is open - otherwise would also suggest that.
We stayed in XpuHa ealy June and had no a/c....only the ocean breeze - and it was fine. There is almost always a nice breeze blowing being right on the ocean...so its quite likely you won't need ac. I know we don't usually use it february time in PDC. |

The eco hotels in Tulum has the low end cabaņas copal, the medium size rooms Zhara and the high end beautiful Azulik cabins with a wooden tub overlooking the Sea
Casa de las Olas is perfect if you want to swim in a cenote or cross the street to a beautiful almost private beach, since it is the last one before the ecological reserve of sian kaan it also has a kitchen in the room =) Cabaņas tulum has really good rooms too, with a great beach club those are my suggestions, Iīm going there to the forum of healers on wednesday and canīt wait, Tulum is beautiful!!!! Claudia =)
