Ya know i was thinking of some reasons for this on a forum and there are several. Here is one i came up with that i havent heard of yet.

as i have a hard time getting my point across in a serious way
In a face to face conversation between two or more people you only have or use a couple seconds to respond to whatever. On the forum you have as long as you like... this gives too much time to disect, scrutinize, and find any faults with any post. Does this make any sense??
