Completely agree with Michele's comment. I had a month pass (for about $50 US) last June and was fortunate enough to attend Ellen's classes 5-6x a week. I felt a little old and chubby (some gorgeous tan bods in those classes - male and female!) but Ellen was very welcoming and encouraging. I think my entire personality may have shifted through that process I can't remember what drop-in rates are, but if it's not listed on the website you can email for more info.

Namaste

Tequila Girl loves yoga and we stay at the Luna Blue, so I just emailed Ellen at Yoga by the Way, and here are their prices...

One class is 14 US and 3 classes are 35 US. If your wife will be practicing daily she better take the month pass, (even if she doesn't stay for the month) those are 700 pesos, around 65 US. We have clean mats, props and little towels for you to use.

My exchange rate shows that 700 pesos is actually about $57, so even a better deal. Ellen was very prompt and courteous in her reply.

I think we will be checking it out in 3 weeks.

Haven't experienced Yoga by the Way, but enjoyed classes at Yoga by the Sea. Had a great class taught by Kat who was filling in there a couple of years ago and that led me to classes at Center 8 Studio last month where Kat instructs on a regular schedule. Center 8 Studio - Playa del Carmen Mexico

The yoga classes are more intense than any I've taken at Yoga by the Sea (or anywhere else!) but I felt I received great instruction and necessary modifications. I only dabble in yoga. The nice thing is that there are several different classes. I think I paid $25.00 US for a 3 class/week pass. So I tried 8drenalini (totally kick butt aerobics and strength building) and my first Pilates class in addition to the terrific yoga class.

If you check out the web site don't be intimidated by Tiffany's amazing body. Pay attention to the energy and smile in the photo. Tiffany and her instructors are top notch, naturally client focused. She apparently loves fitness instruction and requires that quality in each of her instructors. The studio has a wonderful atmosphere too!

PS For locals with kids or those travelling with children: Center 8 offers child care.

Send a message via Skype™ to Gennaro
Yoga at Palapa Suuk has a website Ananda Yoga although it is only in Spanish. They have a comprehensive daily schedule.

YOGA DESDE EL CORAZON

Classes were in Spanish although Melanie (who also does some of the classes at Yoga By the Sea) translated for me.

The Gym runs free classes on the beach in front of the Indigo Beach Club on Saturday and Sunday morning at 0830.
