riding down the highway by bike would be like highly urban biking ... not the overland rides common to blue highways ... as an experienced urban biker, I assure you that PDC is no piece of cake for the two-wheeler ... albeit I ain't gettin' no younger ... one is in almost constant competition w/endless ingress/egress, pedestrians, MV's and scooters not to mention crazy drivers of all things w/keys ... I used the highway, but only for a quarter mile north-south here and there w/many developments to aid the process so I could cross same at angles and check out different neighbrohoods .... it was quite a project with a lot of stops and go and it is often easier to walk the bike when you actually cross from east to west ... in general the aforementioned applies to most of PDC ... Playa Car is the only area where you can roll along with few interuptions for significant distances ....

I have noticed this year many more bikers on 307 south of Playa. There is a wide shoulder most of the way to Tulum. I am considering bringing my road bike down next winter to ride. However, make sure your last will is current, the drivers are sometimes nuts.

mk makes an interesting point ,,, on my hectic bike riding in spring and in answering the question I was thinking of the highway from up near Colosio to down past Juarez a bit ... true the shoulder further south is a good one for many miles and the # of ingress/egress far less .... love when the forum works ...
