We went on the ATV Jungle Tour in March, and liked it so much we're considering booking it again for our January trip. We arrived a bit early, so we waited in a shaded spot with Coca Colas for our tour to begin. We heard approaching ATVs, and the last tour came in. It consisted of about 8 guys who were using the trip as a stag for a guy who was getting married that afternoon. Our tour guide came over and said we could begin ~ my bf and I were the only ones there for the tour! It was fantastic. My only complaint was that I didn't get my own ATV. They tried to talk me into it, but I didn't think I'd get any extra enjoyment out of driving. Well, I was wearing shorts and my legs were sticking to the sides of the seat, which is quite wide in the back, so with every big bump was a moment of agony ~ get your own ATV, and wear long shorts or trousers!! They cave and ruins were really interesting, and the guide was really well informed and friendly. Our favorite part was when he walked us up to the cenote and told us we had some time to enjoy it in private. He walked back down the path and we were able to take in the amazing water just the two of us. What a rare treat! About 45 minutes later, he called us back. We finished our ride and were both really happy we'd gone.
I booked the tour online with the promise of receiving free T-shirts (a $15 value!) which were never mentioned at all. No big deal to me, but might be to others. After the trip, we taxi'd back into PDC (I think $5 US) and were walking around shopping. People were staring at me and I knew it wasn't for my looks. Finally my boyfriend told me I was filthy, and needed to wash up. I ran into a shop and bought a shirt, then we walked down to the sea to wash the grime off of my legs. It was funny, I looked like I'd been mud wrestling and my bf looked like he'd spent the day at a country club! (I guess that's where the free t-shirt would have come in handy!) Anyhoo, long story short: book the ATVs ~ it's a unique experience that you won't regret!
