Sacbe gathering in March? Roads udate?

Hey all,

I notice that a number of Sacbe residents or future residents loom around this forum, so I thought I'd take a flyer and see if there's any interest in organizing a little gathering of us March. I've met a few of you, but thought it might be fun to get the Clan of the Jungle together for dinner or few drinks.

I usally get together with Tom and Joanne when I come down. Last time I met James and Anna and saw Geoff and Jeremiah again. But it would be great to meet more Sacbe villagers, even get everyone together in one place.

I'm going to be in town March 15th to March 15-21 and March 26, 27. Anyone else going to be in town during that period. Any interest in getting together?

I know a number of you currently live in Playa and get together regularly, but for those of us that still live in the North and get only brief glimpses of paradise, the opportunity to meet and develop relationships would be cool. I'd like to find a way that those of us who aren't living there (yet) can develop that sense of community and keep up with the goings on in the village.

That said, how are the roads coming along? When I last visited in November, Avenue de los Ninos was beginning to push into the jungle from the main road. How's it coming? Our lot is on a "quiet" cul de sac at the end of the the road. I'm hoping I'll be able to drive in close to our lot this trip so I'm curious as to the latest progress.

Also, when I was down in November - near the entrance by the highway it looked like a major development was starting. Is that the golf course that had been talked about? While I can see it might be pleasant to have a golf course nearby in my old age (not a golfer now), I'm glad its "downstream" from the village. Those things dump a pile of herbicides into the water table which ain't great for the reefs. Hopefully, some of Sacbe's environmental concern will rub least here's hoping.

BTW, anyone got their solar panel system up and running yet?

Dave, in chilly New Brunswick (-20 C this morning...brrrrr!).

Well Auntieninny, looks like I will have to miss your birthday in the jungle.
I will be away in Oregon March 1-15. Be sure to stop by the SacBe office and meet my partner Jim Ann!

Hey Dave, looks like I will be back during your visit though. Let me know what works for you. The roads have been making slow but steady progress since November. Which lot number is yours? As for development, as you drive in on the road from the highway, there is some new activity on the right side between our village and the highway. Mayacoba seems to be starting the early stages of their large project. It is supposed to be something like Playacar, but I haven't seen any plans yet. Farther west on the left side of the road, a housing development has been going in since I arrived in October.

There are a few houses in the village with a couple of solar panels up. I am planning to install a 1kw system soon for our temporary house on the Guadalupe lot. Then later I will bring in about 2kw when we start the permanent house on our own lot. I am also planning to offer consulting, time, and materials services for solar systems when I have things ready for that.

Take care, and I hope to see you soon.

See you in March.

Sorry we'll miss you. Next year perhaps.

Looks like you'll return just as we arrive. How would Thursday, March 18 sound for drinks. Maybe we can round up a few others...I'll bet Tom and Joanne would join us. I'm looking forward to meeting you and your partner. You pick the place and we're very flexible as we're on vacation. If Thursday doesn't work for you, any day that week works for us.

Our lot is A-43...just off Avenida de los Ninos....on a yet-to-be-named cul de sac. When I was down in November, they were working on Los Ninos and making some progress pushing into the jungle. Wondering how far they've made it. Don't imagine they've begun work on our cul de sac, but it would be cool if we could walk in the whole way down Los Ninos.

I'm very interested to hear about your solar panels.
