I can't be any more shocked than I was to see Janet Jackson's boob on live television. The thought of topless women in Playa seems tame in comparison to that fiasco!

if it's a matter of being around other topless women, so your wife is more at ease, than perhaps an adults only resort is something to consider.
The main beach in Playa had quite a few women also were topless. I stayed at the Aventura Palace, and it was common at the 'beach' (spa palace has a man made beach, not a typical beach), not at the pool. Hope this helps.
A word of caution on this topic however. Many people are very sensitive to this issue and the word topless brings a degree of attention to the string that caused another string on the topic to be closed. good luck

If your wife has never done the topless thing she'll have to ease into it and do it when she's ready. I know that I always want my wife to whip the puppies out the minute we get on the beach each time we go, but even being experienced she still does it on her terms and when's she's ready :lol: My advice would be to find a place that is away from most people and let your wife try it there, and then as she gets more comfortable with the idea then hopefully she'll realize that not everyone is gawking at her. Of course, you can always add a little liquid courage to the equation to speed things up :wink:

Just wondering if it's worth a trip to isla mujeres to check out the beach scene? Are some of the beaches better for snorkelling and or have a topfree crowd. We want to find some good snorkel spots but don't want to be at family oriented beach where going topless might not be as appropriate.

Sunblock. A high protection number, don't even think of a 15, go for the real thing the first days.

Just back from a spectacular first time in PDC. We stayed at the Reef Coco Beach (family friendly) and saw a number of topless women.

I just pretended I was from Canada instead of Massachusetts and took the top off. I put it back on if I got up to swim or walk around to the bars, but otherwise it felt completely fine to let the boobs see the sun. If we walked further down the beach, the top came off again and nobody said boo(b).

For whatever reason, letting the boobs out to play feels like the most natural thing in the world in Playa. I have never been half naked in public before and yet I had not one moment of embarassment, self consciousness nor discomfort.
