HI We are going in April and wonder if these "specials" change or if this is the norm?

I recall reading that Wicky's did this for the big soccer finale and it got really busy. How do you think the service staff will be able to keep up with the number of people I feel will be there for the superbowl?

We had two wonderful lunches at Wicky's last week. The best 'burgers we've had in Playa. We returned one evening for an early dinner (about 5:30) and were told by the headwaiter that we had missed Happy Hour (see post #1)!

We ordered drinks and looked at the menu and decided to just have an appetizer. I made the mistake of telling the waiter that it looked like we'd have to spend a bit more than we wanted to that evening. Everything changed after that. The table was abruptly stripped of dinnerware and the shrimp cocktail was plunked down on the table. I had barely taken the last sip of wine when the glass was taken out of my hand! (I don't think they needed the table, there were only 4 tables occupied in the whole place.)

Our plan was to return to Wicky's the next night, a little later in the evening and dressed up a bit, but their treatment of us made us decide to spend our money at John Gray's! Wonderful food and service as always, BTW.

To be fair, we had absolutely astounding service during our lunches at Wicky's. Miguel is charming, efficient and fast! Ask for him!

My husband and I went there yesterday at 4:55 p.m. for the 2 x 1 hamburger and 2 draft beer special from 4 to 6. As we have been there before and encountered problems with the bill, regarding the specials etc. I asked our waiter right away about the specials and confirmed the price.

We said we would like the above special and he looked at his watch and said "oh o'kay, you have at least an hour."

We asked if we could substitute a beer for a coffee he said no. We then just asked him to bring the two beers plus a coffee.

Before going to Wicky's I e-mailed them and asked about their specials as their web - site still stated something else. Paulina from Wicky's replied quite quickly and advised the specials have been changed and advised me of the correct ones.

After reading the above post, I have written to her to asked her what time a customer has to arrive at the restaurant in order to qualify for the 4pm to 6 pm special.

I had also asked in my first e-mail to Wicky's how long the special is on for but didn't receive an answer. Not sure if they really know, so it is best to just e-mail them. The web-site is not always up to date.

I have not heard back from Wicky's about the cut off time for the 4 to 6 Happy hour as discussed in previous posts.

We ate at Las Mananitis on 5th at 4th or 6th. It was quite good. Special fish of the day with one corona or soft drink 129 pesos. No hassle or errors on bills clearly marked, good service etc. Pizza special with beer or soft drink 99 pesos.

Hi Helen,

Thank you for coming back to Wicky´s and giving us another try. Sorry for the inconvenience and confusion of our promotions. We have been training the staff everyday and reminding them of what our specials are, so there is no confusion.

They Hamburger Special goes from 4-6pm every day, so if you order at 5:59 it is still excepted. Everyone will know this and follow thru with making it easy on guests to order.

Thanks again, Damon

My mental telepathy must have worked as his reply came in just after I posted mine.
