My 2 cents...Couple of suggestions if going with kids are:
1. Bug repellant...the more DEET the better (knees to toes at night)
2. I agree on your food recommendation: Carboncitos is a huge hit with kids (great food and price is right)
3. Playa Palms is a great place to stay with kids. The ocean front unit on the beachfront on the south side is perfect. Has a lower level basement type room beneath main living area with 2 additional huge beds and the kids own DVD/TV. Nice pool. Very safe. Right in town. Reasonably priced. Literally, 2 steps out the door are the pool and beach (so bathroom is steps away).
4. Buy a "Magic Bullet" mini-blender before you go, and buy concentrated frozen fruit mix at Mega. Toss in some ice, and your kids can easily make their own drinks in the room all day for a fraction of what you'd pay otherwise. The little thing comes with plastic mugs with lids so the drinks stay cold a long time.

Thank you very much for those tips! We are booked for this trip, but I may have to walk through Playa Palms to check it out for a future trip. Magic Bullet...sounds interesting!

JG, reading your TR made me want to be there right now, especially away from all the snow we had this year. Great job on the Epilogue, maybe a Mod can make a sticky out of it to help other members.

BTW, did you get your Speedo in Playa & where's the store if you did. Maybe we can do a Playa Speedo week theme or Playa Info Speedos?

WOW - I have loved every letter and pic of this trip report - y'all sure know how to have a good time! I am new to the board & my hubby, son & I visited the PDC area for the 1st time last June - I did plenty of research on this board before we went & read tons of trip reports! I was missing Playa a couple of weeks ago so decided to visit the forum for a pick me up and was so excited when I saw a new TR from you because I really enjoyed reading your other TRs during my research period. Thanks so much for the immensely entertaining report & taking the time to do the word doc...I saved it to my 'puter for next time!

I have read all your trip reports, very well done. Almost like a mini holiday. I`ll be there in a couple of weeks. Can`t wait. hopefully you don`t get sick this year. Your problem with the kids last year is you let your alcohol level run too low and the bugs were able to live.

Thank you very much! I will probably update the epilogue after my March trip and then maybe start a new thread in the Playa-General section so that more folks see it.

Cita ordered the speedos for us before we left for Mexico, so I can't help you find one in Playa. But I like your ideas!

I ordered the Speedos from www.swimoutlet.com, as I had high hopes of the boys wearing them to the beach, maybe next year? Although I have a feeling they'll insist TG and I sport something of equal* nature.

*Equal in this case would mean far less coverage, and more than likely lack of a top.

Upon further contemplation, I wouldn't hold my breath for a Speedo on the Beach sighting.
