Very little work got done the first week. Finally tracked down the carpenter we had hired previously and made arrangements to have some work done. He sent out a fellow named Reuben and his son to finish the upstairs floor. We bought two types of lumber, Frijoleo and zapote. Both very hard hardwoods. Reuben is installing floorboards in the photo below. The wood floor really looks nice now that it's finished. We'll sand it and varnish the wood our next trip down.
Conditions downstairs were pretty unpleasant when we got there, dirt floor, no walls or screens, no shelves to hold food supplies etc. You can see what Jackie thought of the living conditions in the photo below.

The second week we also got a couple of albanil's (stone masons) started downstairs on stone walls and got 1 meter high walls in all the way around and the beginning of a storage closet where we can lock things up when we're not there. There is so much rock on our place, that there was plenty for all of this. Just needed to buy portland cement and sand for mortar. When the walls were done we had a concrete floor poured downstairs. You can see the improvement in the photo below.

I'll end here for now.
