I know there are people who actually believe teachers are totally responsible for the state of Wis state budget. That is just foolishness and if you don't like the standard of living right now.....wait about 10 years when even LESS educated people hit the market.

Why will this be the case?

Well you're the one jumping to a conclusion that is simply unfounded. The onus is really on you to explain why you are jumping to that conclusion. You might try reading again the post being responded to:

Particularly in light of that first sentence, one is hard pressed to see why you'd nevertheless conclude that equinenut, or someone who voiced general agreement with the views she expressed there, would be claiming that "only unionized teachers can educate our kids properly".

What am I saying?

Ample past evidence shows that jumping to conclusions and exaggerating to some extremist version others' points of view, rather than reading and paying attention to what they actually say in their posts, is the #1 most popular pastime in political discussions here. My bad. Forgive me.

So ryberg maybe you would like to explain the bolden part then and connect the dots for me.. If you can....Why would kids be any less educated by non-union teachers ?

I'd say they will likely be BETTER educated because then the crappy teachers can be FIRED and replaced with better ones...

You appear to be having a fair amount of trouble reading even when pointed in the right direction.

You can of course ask equinenut about her views but there is nothing in what she wrote there that claims a lack of unionized teachers will result in less educated people in the future. If you read, you will see that that is accurate.

Perhaps you'd like to consider her points about "the attack [being] so clearly against our teachers and education in general", and the situation being so bad that some people actually think that "teachers are totally responsible for the state of Wis state budget". Both of these are things equinenut actually wrote, you see.

Now, you may disagree with her assessment, of course, but that's a different matter. The question is, given a situation in any area in which teachers are so denigrated by some politicians in power, would you expect levels of education in that state to improve in the future? Perhaps it is rather more likely that people will on the contrary be less well educated in the future.

And lo, that is precisely equinenut's suggestion in concluding her remarks. Not that a lack of unionized teachers will lead to less educated people, or that only unionized teachers can properly educated kids, as in your inaccurate, extremist versions of her statements here.

Yes thats what will happen because they can now rid the schools of the crappy teachers unlike when the thug unions run the show...say goodbye to the status quo..

Yours is not an approach to reasoning with which I am familiar. This is undoubtedly a key reason this exchange has gone as it has.
