11220 Minutes of Partying in Playa with Celebrities
So I didn’t realize how popular Chris and Josh were until I got a text from them on their first day saying that they were spotted and yelled at as soon as they arrived! Wow! Should I get bigger sunglasses to take down to be incognito with them or was I gonna be able to live it up right since they were so well known!
![]() ![]() They did a great job informing me of what to expect upon my arrival to the airport. Seeing pics from JG’s TR also helped to familiarize myself to area. I was excited about being able to have a beer on my way down to Playa. Something about drinking while in a vehicle just excited me a bit too much. As I came out of the airport, I found the ADO and thank goodness I hustled over with my overpacked self as the bus was getting ready to depart. I gave them a nod and the bus driver got back out and loaded my luggage. I did not however get my beer b/c of the bus getting ready to leave. ![]() I know that I had totally overpacked but couldn’t help but bring enough for probably 2 ½ outfits per day. Even a lady said to me while standing in one of the customs line, “Is that all yours?” I said yes. And she said “How long are you staying?” I must admit I was a little embarrassed to say only 8 days. But in my defense, my luggage was NOT jammed packed. I had plenty of room in each suitcase. ![]() As I got off the bus in Playa, I texted Chris that I was there and had remembered the map she gave me in case they were not there to greet me. She said to stay tight and they would be there in 7 minutes. 7 minutes?! ![]() That is 7 minutes longer that I would have to wait for a mojito. So I told her I would start walking toward her and had to use my sense of direction in which way to head. It’s down deep in me that only is pulled out when someone else is not leading me.The reunion of them and me on Fifth definitely turned a few heads. Being in their home away from home was just too much too handle for the moment. ![]() After getting settled in and immediately changing into my bathing suit….. Which by the way was one of my biggest dilemmas each day besides what I was going to drink…..we headed to the beach and then off to Fusion for fish tacos and my first mojito.![]() ![]() I told Chris that it wasn’t very strong b/c I couldn’t taste the alcohol and she said “Hon, that’s b/c it’s made the RIGHT way!” Ohhh, gotcha! Little did I know I had been drinking such CRAP at home. ![]() We ate dinner at Era Ora. Such a fabulous restaurant! And then an early night. I was exhausted from hauling all of my luggage down Fifth.

Day 2
So waking up the next day, I felt refreshed and had decided if I was going to run at all while on this trip, it had to be today. Not knowing how many days I would wake up hungover, I had to take advantage of this day. I only ran 2 miles, but it was a gorgeous run looking at the beautiful water and beautiful people. ![]() Laying out at the beach that day, I took a pic of my view over the next 7 days. It doesn’t get much better than this! ![]() ![]() Chris told me about the fresh fruit carts and I was dying to try them. So we eventually walked down that way and it just amazed me the fresh fruit that was there. I had Mango, Watermelon and Coconut. So tasty. I could get used to this food REAL fast. ![]() ![]() After laying out for a bit we went to eat lunch and meet up with friends and one that was getting into town. We ended up at Cockteleria Veracruz where I got my first taste of Don in Playa. Shudder – Will take me a bit to get used to it. But at any rate, I couldn’t be the ONLY one NOT enjoying him!!! ![]() ![]() Yep, one down, many more to go! ![]() I loved eating at this place! It was so so good! And then next thing I know, we are being passed another shot! WTF! Was this complimentary b/c I am with Celebrities? I did find out later that Chris and Brad ordered up another round for us. Damn, I’m getting drunk today. That’s all I can say!![]() Walking down to Carboncito’s, I was feeling pretty good and ready to keep going. After cleaning up to go back out we met up at Tequila Barrel. Had a drink or two and the music was just not cutting it for me. Don’t get me wrong, I like 70’s, 80’s rock but when I’m ready to dance, I need the right kinda music. I have no problems telling the DJ’s what to play, so I went over and with my sweetest voice asked him to play something different. We were told that if we got up on the bar to dance, he would play a song of our choice. After much thought about which Hip/Hop music I was gonna grind to, we decided upon Usher, Yeah. It was one that we all knew. ![]() And yes, I love to sing to the songs I know as I’m dancing. ![]() ![]() ![]() After our shot at Tequila Barrel, we were just getting started. ![]() ![]() Chris showed me around a bit and pointed out Luna Blue, BB and a couple other places that are popular. I couldn’t however stay away from the bars down by Blue Parrot. They seemed to have more of the music I can shake my booty to. We did meet quite the person who seemed to move his/her hips better than Shakira! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() On to Coco Maya for more booty shakin’. Ya, THAT speaker looks like the perfect spot for me and my girl! And woohwee there are some guys down there that could rock your world if you let ‘em! Sorry no pics of this time frame. Guess my mind was on somethin’ else.

Day 3
We woke up ready to head to Tulum for the day. I had my first push cart tacos that were so so yummy! We walked to catch the Collectivo and saw two guys fishing in a tree for what I think were limes! Was the funniest looking thing. So I tried to get a pic of it but they started walking away eating their “catch.” ![]() ![]() Riding in a Collectivo reminded me of my trips to Jamaica. Cram ‘em in. And when you think there isn’t enough room, there is. Cram some more. ![]() It was raining when we got to Tulum, so we ran underneath the shelter where all the taxi drivers were huddled and Chris negotiated a taxi and told them we wanted to go to Ziggy Beach. We could tell he was not really aware of where that was but was going to take us anyhow and find it along the way. ![]() The beach in Tulum was very gorgeous and not very busy at all. ![]() ![]() Josh, "I betcha I can jump that wave 40 feet out." Brad, "I'll jump that wave and the next one 50 feet out." John, "I got you both beat. I'll jump those waves and beat you back to the chairs." All 3 said, "Bet is on!" ![]() After getting settled in our chairs, we order a mojito. I got a mango mojito and it was the best mojito I have ever had!! I am ruined. There will never be another that tastes that good. There was fresh cut mango down at the bottom. ![]() Chris had heard that La Zebra had the best mojitos according to jimontheriver, I think. So we had to take a walk down to see if it was true. It started to rain a bit again so we took shelter and I had to take advantage of the photo op. ![]() ![]() It was interesting to see their electrical system, or lack there of. ![]() Hey JG, did you forget something back in Playa?! Has TG been grouchy since you got back b/c of the lack of BCWW?! ![]() We eventually made it to La Zebra to enjoy a mojito. However, I must say in my opinion, this is not the best mojito in the Riviera Maya. Good but the mango mojito beats em all.![]() ![]() We enjoyed some photo time and visiting time. Then took the walk back to eat lunch at El Bistro at Ziggy Beach. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

So I can leave all the explanations of our food up to Chris.
I’m sure she remembers what everyone had. But here are a few pics. We enjoyed the swings around the bar before settling in to wait at least an hour for our food. The good thing is that the drinks were 2 for 1 all day. So, yep, I got another Mango Mojito. I ordered the lamb burger. Was okay. I wasn’t jumping up and down about it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We tried then to take a nap on the sunbed’s but the rain wouldn’t stay away. ![]() We taxied back to catch the Collectivo and got dumped on the side of the road. It cracked me up that we were standing there trying to hitch a ride, so I had to take pics of it all. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() After getting back to Playa, we cleaned up and Chris and I were just wanting some wine to drink and walk around for a bit. We found a store that sold wine. (Refer to Chris’ TR for the intersection. There is no way I would remember something like that. There wasn’t music there.) We walked around for a bit and stopped in at Luna Blue. We saw our friends at the Spanish restaurant across the way and the owner, I believe, had April out in the street dancing. Too cute. ![]() ![]() We decided to take the walk to Util and I must say was probably my favorite meal! Papa Charley is the bomdiggity! He ordered for us and we knew he wouldn’t go wrong. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We walked back to Fifth and had a drink on Fifth to people watch for a bit and listen to a band. I wasn’t ready to turn in. Something bout the music and nightime but Chris was getting sleepy. We went in to Coco Maya anyway and I talked Chris and Josh to letting me stay there by myself and I promised to be a good girl and walk straight home. Funny, I’m much more tame when my friends aren’t around. Guess I know I can’t be outta control b/c there isn’t anyone there to reel me in. I people watched for an hour or so before turning in around 1:30. ![]()
