I'm sure that A'ndrea can sprinkle some of her magic dust and make it happen. Look forward to seeing you there!

Thanks so much. We are very much looking forward to it. My husband loves boxing (he even writes regularly for a boxing forum, spends hours doing so) and he will be so excited to be in a room with other boxing fans.
Our names are Ron and Laurie. We will be staying at Catalonia Playa Maroma except for two nights which we will be staying in Akumal. Looking forward to meeting evreyone (and praying that I will be able to stay awake as it is our travel day!). Thanks again.

May 7-14. I promised I wouldn't complain that it's only for a week as we are lucky to be going at all, but I do wish it was longer. We're gonna try to make it to Bad Boys before the fight. Not sure if we'll be able to make any of the other events. We are spending two nights in Akumal so we won't be in town on the 9 and 10 although the concert sounds awesome and honestly, we don't like to make too many plans on vacation, we like to try to be as spontaneous as possible since it is the only time during the year that we get to do that. But we are very excited about fight night and thank you for including us. Looking forward to meeting everyone so much. Thanks for taking care of this!

Really look forward to meeting the two of you. I was involved in the sport for many years and know a few boxing people from NY. I'm sure that Ron and myself will hit it off famously while talking about the sweet science.

Hey Mike -- This is Ron posting. Here are two links, one is to an article I wrote many, many years ago (one of my personal favorites) and the other is to a link of a collection of my articles on boxing. I've been a fan since I was nine; have a very short and truly horrific amateur background; and I was a feature writer for East Side Boxing for years (I wrote under the name "Old Yank" Schneider). I hope you enjoy a few of these:

LESSON ONE: Judge or be Judged

And this is the link to a collection of my work on East Side Boxing:

Nice work, Ron. I am familiar with ESB. After reading a few of your articles, it looks like you were pretty high on Calzaghe. It's funny how a lot of people, myself included, thought Lacy was a big threat to him. He had a pretty solid career and retired at the top of his game. I wish Roy Jones Jr. had done the same.

Thank you Mike! I had been a huge Calzaghe fan for a while leading up to the Lacy bout. If my memory serves, I believe that my prediction for that bout was that Lacy would not win a single round and that Calzaghe would score TKO of Lacy in the 11th. Calzaghe almost got the TKO in the 11th! American boxing fans were most unkind over my prediction. Many American fans did not know who Calzaghe really was and most American fans had been deceived about Lacy due to the hype machine that surrounded him.

I've also been quite high on Kelly Pavlik. It blows my mind that even while totally dried out (shedding 18 pounds in his final three days), and messed up as an alcoholic, he managed to take the middle four rounds off of Martinez. I honestly believe that he will be significantly "in the mix" at 168.

I've also been quite outspoken about steroid abuse in boxing over my writing career. My voice on the topic lost me my feature-writer status on ESB. A few influential promoters got to ESB and had me silenced.

I was all over the California Athletic Commission in the early hours following the Mosley/Margarito bout. My article on Margarito's glove loading offense was perhaps the first to hit the streets. The incident created a fire storm. I was proud of this article:

Unclean Hands

Thank you for reading a few of my pieces. I'm working on getting my "ban" lifted. Apparently I'll need to promise not to touch boxing's third rail -- steroid abuse.

Best,

Ron
