My family would visit me and I would do the time knowing justice was served for my son.
And no one would have to worry about this animal doing it to another kid..
So IMO it would be worth risking my freedom and my family to make things right..Soldiers do it every day..

I was watching the local news about 25 years ago as child molester was being returned to Seattle to face a jury of his peers in a courtroom, instead the father of the molested child stepped from the shadows put a pistol the the mans chest & pulled the trigger----justice served.
As I recall the father was never tried or convicted since the whole thing played out on national television & an unbiased jury could not be sat.

I remember that, it happened in the airport. I couldn't remember what happened to the father. Do you know?

Are you thinking of the Gary Plauche case (Gary was the father of the 11 year old boy, Jody Plauche, who had been molested and kidnapped by his karate instructor back in 1984)?

The molester was arrested and was being returned to Baton Rouge, LA to face charges when the father shot him in the head & killed him.

The father was charged with manslaughter, plead no contest, was sentenced and served 5 years probation.

Here's the famous footage of the father's revenge:

If the legal system did not give my family justice.
I would glady serve time for killing some one who murdered my child.

This thread is a no brainer, what parent wouldn't kill someone who murdered there child? Threaten to kill my family and I would kill someone in a heartbeat. Do not care what the consequences would be. This may sound very cold but it is just what I am made of. My personal code is "DO NOT EVER MAKE ME CHOOSE BETWEEN ANYONE AND MY FAMILY",.

I wonder if the prosecutors gave the family the option of not being present during the gruesome details of the murder before making that deal?

I hope to whatever powers may exist that I never find myself in such a situation as a parent.

One very different type of response that I think is remarkably admirable:
Daniel Pearl Foundation

Daniel Pearl was the journalist beheaded by Muslim terrorists. As it says at the top of that link:

His father seems to be the driving force behind that. Just seemed like a valuable contrast to the more revenge-oriented sort of approach, to me...

If he serious, WHY would he announce his intention to the world? He just made actually doing it much more difficult..
