A second reason not to drive at night between Escarcega and Chetumal

You will miss the House of the Mouth of the Snake , and it is just under 1,000 yards from the highway. The name of the site is Chicanna, just 9 km from Xpujil pueblo.

And of course, you can only find this during the day:

Empanadas (huge ones, be careful on how many you order)

Sopes, also big but not too much

at the town of Xpujil

Again, of course you can safely drive at night in that highway (I did it, after watching the bat cave), it has just recently being remodeled, making it wider and there are new signs and reflective dividers between Xpujil and Escarcega.
The turns are now well marked and divided, good job.
