Keep on Truckin' Peanut Pet Shelter !
Anyone that has been to the "puppy wash" in Playa OR the "doggie wash" in Akumal see the situation that the PPS is having with transportation. The truck that Andy has is not reliable enough to take people to the aeropuerto in Cancun with their NEWLY adopted doggie as per custom of Andy and the PPS.
This was a highlight for Andy AND for the NEW proud parents, getting a ride to Cancun and having Andy make sure you were checked in ok and that you were set to go home with your baby. Deb & I were the last ones to have this done for when we adopted Taco from the PPS in Dec. '09. Andy had the old blood red suburban and it almsot died on him at the aeropuerto when we were about to depart for home. I asked him if everything was "ok" and he just said the "burb" was just tempermental. The second he made it back to Playa ...... it died. When you look for a "used" vehicle there is something many people that don't live in Playa may not understand..... it is not like finding a used car lot like here in the states, there just aren't any ! You buy from a private person, and with very limited $$$ you can see what you get. I am very appreciative that last year when I tried this Kelly ( bigbadleroy ) and her husband ( David ) donated a vehicle through Davids company but, things just didn't work out and here we are a year later in the same situation as we were a year ago. What I am asking for is this : I am looking for someone who can DONATE a vehicle for the PPS. Maybe someone out there is getting ready to buy a NEW vehicle and would be able to afford to let their older one go. I would really like to find a Jeep or Truck/Suburban that is reliable enough to drive down to Playa and THAT would make it also reliable enough to drive back and forth to the aeropuerto in Cancun so the PPS can resume the FREE ride for you if you adopt a doggie. ( donations for the ride are up to you ) ![]() Sooooo wadda ya say peeps ???? Can we count on someone out there to help the PPS in this desperate time of need ? Ask around.... friends, co-workers, etc. etc. we need your help once again We are barely keeping the shelter alive right now and $$$ is at a very HIGH premium ! ALL the $$$ raised from fundraisers go DIRECTLY to feeding the dogs and paying vet bills, med's etc. etc. I am NOT to proud to get down on my hands and knees and BEG you ...... so i'm doing so once again.Thank You and as always ...... WE LOVE YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT !

Ditto! There was this cool 15 passenger type van at the car auction last week, that would have been great for PPS... sure wish I would have had the $ to buy both the van and my daughter Vicky her car. That would have made everyones day! But unfortunately, someone else bought the van. It was funny because Michael said, he that would be a great van for the parks department at the city, and I said, the parks? Not even, that would be a great van for the Peanut Pet Shelter!!

Duck - Let me know if there is a way to do maybe an online auction or even some type of collection to get the $ together and then have someone buy a car here in the states to take down. I will help with whatever I can.

Just to be clear we are not looking for a shiney new truck (tho that would be lovely) actually an older suburban type vehicle would be much better, newer vehicles tend to be all microchips and fuel injection so when something breaks its either too expensive to fix or the parts can not be gotton here, something with carbs and less electrics would be good, they are so much easier and cheaper to work on
