You are absolutely right in your advice. Never leave a moment undone or a word unsaid with our loved ones. Whether it is a matter of great importance, like your commitment to your religion, or even a small "I love you" when hanging up the phone, we should use every opportunity to reach out.

If I may, I would offer a piece of advice to you. No regrets. Mourning almost always begins with the "I wish I had...". Move past that as soon as you can. Honor and remember your father for all the things that you had together. Keep him close in your mind and your heart (you can't imagine the conversations Dad and I still have). And treat yourself gently. Whether through family, friends or prayer (or all three) you will need to heal your hreart and move on as your father would have wanted.
