Hello!!...Coming Down To Fly Fish...

Hi All, looks like a great site, lots of good info....My Good friend and I are Coming from Calgary Alberta Apr.4th- Apr. 17th to do some fly fishing on the coast....We Plan on Driving from Cancun, and for sure spend some time in Playa, and eventually end up at Mahahual, then Back up to Playa and Cancun...I was wondering if anyone on this site fishes for Bone fish, Tarpon and any other species for that matter, and could share some info on some good spots to fish from shore??...I cant wait to go, it is going to be a fantastic get away!!!

Thanx very much...Jeff...

Welcome! I tried doing a search but it was just the the basic info. I have read many posts in the past about flyfishing, and the general consensus is the best fly fishing is to the south. Punta Allen being mentioned the most. I think you will find many places as you are heading so far down. Maybe you can post a trip report of your experiences and good spots as you find them?

Surf casting and flyfishing seem to bring more questions than answers here. Most folks go out on charters to troll or bottom fish. Even those are more popular (or productive?) to the north and south of Playa.

I have read of bone fishing but not tarpon. I personally have only fished offshore there. I'll keep trying to find some of the threads and post links as I find them.

Indeed! That was a TR jevans posted a couple weeks ago. It would be worth the trip just for that lunch! You could probably contact him and ask questions about his experiences.
