The executive committee of Taste of Playa 2011 is listening to your comments!
We are tossing around the idea of changing the date to the Sunday before Thanksgiving (November 20). We'll let everyone know as soon as possible. We realize that the event did get quite crowded last year and considered moving the location. It was decided to keep the same location and to focus on improving the layout to allow for better flow. I am so happy that there is already so much interest in the 2011 Taste of Playa!!!! - Tyra |

hahahaha the only way to do that in that location would be to limit the number of people the gridlock was the only negative in an otherwise truly great event nonetheless, i'm in for a vip pass that area was a haven in a sea of madness |

We'll definitely be going, regardless of location, even though it was VERY crowded last year.
I have to say, I wouldn't recommend taking young children, especially those in strollers. It was too hard to maneuver around in the crowd, and it took away from the adults' enjoyment of the event. |

Location was just too crowded in my opinion.
We loved the food at last year's Taste of Playa, but it was way too crowded. It took us half an hour to move three booths because of the crowds and we were there early. There wasn't even room to stand in line to purchase your next food sample. It was difficult to hold a drink without spilling it on someone next to you because there wasn't room to move around. We were constantly bumped by people trying to get through and they were spilling their drinks on other people.
In order to accommodate more people, you would probably have to also set up booths in the area close to the ocean and by the ladies who sell fruit. Although we really enjoyed the food, we were unable to order more because we could not get through the crowd. In addition to sample food from different vendors, people wanted go socialize with friends and there just wasn't enough room to do both. I am sure the vendors also felt they were short of space to prepare and sell their food. |

It's looking like the date will be changed to November 20 (sorry Maya).
I hope that this date change will help those of you that are planning travel to the area over the US Thanksgiving holiday to attend the Taste of Playa this year. The possible change of venue was probably the 2nd thing the committee addressed in our first meeting. Without going into detail about the discussion or plan, please know that we made the choice to keep the venue the same with the knowledge that we would have to take what we learned from last year and try to improve on crowd flow. Vanessa, thanks for your kind words. I think I can speak for all of the members of the Taste of Playa planning committee that we are very proud of what has been accomplished and we look forward to November. - Tyra |
