overbooked

I just read on another forum that the Lindo was overbooked and they were sending people to the other resorts! I certainly hope this is just a one time thing considering we are leaving in 5 days. If anyone knows anything about this please reply.

Hope not. we are arriving tomorrow. We went through an overbooking fiasco at the Port Real a few years ago. Not too much fun.

You'll probably be ok. But be careful when people say they are "overbooked". Make sure it's the not just the tour package operator that has overbooked. Often this is the case and there will still be rooms at the resort. Make sure to do some digging while there and if it's a resort you really want to be at it might be worth paying a little extra. For example, the tour package operators buy blocks of rooms for less money than standard rates so if there's room outside a tour operator's block it still may be worthwhile to pay a couple hundred extra but still be at the resort you want to be at. Also, do a bit of research for other resorts in the area you would accept a "bump" to and insist they put you there if they are absolutely going to bump you. They've put you at a disservice by bumping you so make them work for it and don't settle for anything less than you want. My 2 cents.
