Very very nice, Michele. I wish I'd had the chance to get to know him better. But the few times I did speak with Keith... he was a class act, a guy full of genuine WARMTH, a no BS type of person. I admire that in a person. Damn, it's a shame he's gone...

Remembering Keith

It's sad that on one of my few visites to this forum, I learn of the departure of one of my favorite people in Playa del Carmen. I first met Keith soon after he took over "Capt. Dave's" on 10th Avenue, and he was largely the reason that I returned to Playa for several years afterwards. He operated the bar in a manner perfect to my tastes, and made everyone feel at home. (He also made us feel very poorly the next morning, but he usually cured those illnesses the next evening!) I am certain that he will be missed - a true "person."

My best to Mayte. (She's anouther "Gem.")

Great shots, Michele. Made me a bit misty for old times.

Oh, I missed it--thought I had watched the whole slideshow. Does it repeat randomly, do you know?

Playa Friends

You two, Michele and Heather, along with Tom Lee, Absolute Al, Rocky, Mayte, Alex, Michele's Rob, and Rico, are the only people left in Playa that I know. Bones, Jimmy Brown, Capt. Dave, Grady (sort of,) and now Keith, have left us. (What did they share in common???)

I'm going to San Blas, again, this Fall - too good a deal, I suppose, but not nearly as exciting as Playa. I do actually see the ocean there, however! I do still save cook books for Heather, so I'll return someday.

Be sure to look us up when you are in Playa again. Until then, take good care of yourself!

Heather (and everyone) just wanted to say many thanks for all the kind messages about my dad and let you know he is going to be deeply deeply missed. Everyone here is in shock. He had been ill as you know for sometime and his family had been looking after him trying to get him back to his old self.

At tomorrows funeral to start the service we are playing "Diamonds on the soles of her shoes" by Paul Simon as it was one of his favourite songs a few years back. He also loved Bruce Springsteen so at the end of the service we are playing "My Hometown". Maybe you could all play those two songs and raise a glass to him.

Thanks again

Lee

Lee,

I'm so sorry for your great loss. Your tribute to your dad sounds lovely. I'll dig out those songs and raise a pint.

Your dad was an awesome man.

My condolences to you, Mayte, your entire family and all his friends who miss him now.

Beth

Was a lovely send off today and bitter/sweet seeing old friends again. A very nice touch seeing all the old pictures, the days I remember spending with Keith (uncle Charlie). I hope Craig,Lee and families take comfort in knowing just how well loved their dad is he was a colourful man with a smashing personality and will be sadly missed but cheerfully remembered.Goodnight godbless Charlie love Claire xxxx

I am so very sad to hear this news. Keith was a very nice man. He introduced me to so many local folks, and bought me my first taste of Playa-made tequila. Great sense of humor, he had, and he was a totally laid back gentleman. On first meeting, he made you feel like you were part of the family. Playa and all of her favorite visitors will miss him. I pray he's with Dave now.
