New El Dorado Royale restaurant

Hi,
Can anyone tell me about the changes that EDR has made to their restaurants. I understand that La Isla no longer serves dinner. Is this new restaurant near the lobby similar to La Isla? Also, what type of food does Jo-Jo's serve now, since it changed from the Steakhouse?

Hi just returned last night from el dorado royale. The new lobby is fabulous, The martini bar off the the lobby is magnificent , Below the martini bar is the new el fatima (Italian) Just open a few days, this is the only restaurant I had a complaint with, The manager can't manage. The staff is inexperienced, The food is good , presentation is magnifico. But it was cold and untimely , we left before desert was served, don't know what happened to the service here other than the manger of the restarurant at fault. The la isla is now just serving breakfast and lunch til about 4 pm. Excellent food and service. The grill is now known as Jo Jo's, still serving the best beef tenderloin you can find south of Canada. Also serve up flank steak meals, salmon, pork etc. Excellent 5 course meals.
The Cocotel is the new non reservation restaurant below the lobby shopping area. Excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner in an indoor atmosphere. Just open a couple weeks, service improved 10 fold from day one to day 5, we were there 11 days. Mangement managed. Food was excellent all along. A restaurant with elbow room. Tables were sometimes 6-8 feet from next table. Unbelievable. 5 course meals served with good presentation and timely. The oriental is still the food and service experience of a lifetime, 6 course meals of impeccable taste. I rattled on enough for now If you want any more info, glad to forward and reply

New restaurants

Hi

Returned on 3 March after 2 great weeks at EDR.

New restaurants as already mentioned above are El Cocotel and Italian (I believe called D'Italia). I would have to disagree about the service and food temperatures though as we ate there 4 times and had a great meal each time. You can have 6 proper courses here and all food we had was tasty and as hot as any thing else in Mexico - if you've been to Mexico before you'll know what I mean!

Jo Jo's has great take out for lunch as well (flank steak baguette was yummy!). In the evenings they do a mixture of caribbean style dishes including some great fish/coconut dishes

Have fun

Paul
