Mahahual!

Hello everyone just thought i would let you know how my trip went me my wife and 2 kids stayed in a place called mahahual just off the main road there you will see the light house and you have hit it. anyway the place is nice but small still compared to playa or cancun but its growing fast and i mean fast. they are doing construction there everywhere you turn your head, almost like ants! lol anyway we stayed in a place called the casitas a small area with owners of american, canadian, and some italians. im an advid freediver and was looking to do some freediving when about a month before i went on a spearfishing charter. wow what an experiance. i have already said enough about the both on these forums so if you want to see them there in the spearfishing forums, highly recomended by the way. anyway the food there was awsome as well which was 5 star compared to alot of places now. the people are very differant there as they are very friendly and easy going. i love it. my kids had a blast and my wife loved it as well if you visit that place its very easy going and it a small fishing village as well. a resturant to recomend nohoch kay like i said 5 star and some good ones but not 5 star are sak ha and arricefes. dont want to write a book but hope this helps out someone.

Write away! We spent a couple of days in Mahahual in December and absolutely loved it- can't wait to go back this December! And for longer...
(I wrote a lot about it in my 2010 trip report... )

Wow, that place looks gorgeous! I love how they call themselves "Mahahualeneans" -- it sounds like an evil villian's laugh.

Glad you posted we've been looking for more recent info on the area as my parents rented a house there for 2 months. The idea of the quiet in the area is very appealing to us, although I enjoyed Playa it was a bit busy I'd like to get to know more locals in a smaller town.
Mostly wondering what types of things we'll be able to find locally such as meat, coffee etc we did see there is a fresh fruit veggie stand a couple times a week that passes though.

We were not there long and didn't have the occasion to cook, so never looked into grocery stores, etc.
But there was a guy who rode through town on a bicycle every day with fresh bread- he'd ring the bell on his bike as he rode by.
Man, I could see hanging out in Mahahual for a couple of months. I'm jealous.

Well fresh bread sounds amazing although we'll be outside of town we will drive in.
Kinda figure that fresh fish, veggies, and fruit isn't that rough to eat alot of. Maybe a couple Costco trips in there when people come in from Cancun.

Most people from Mahahual drive out to Chetumal if they need a Cotsco trip, but you can find most everything in town, personally love the small tiendas that have fresh fish and fruit.
You can find more local info in Costa Maya Living - Xcalak Mahahual Placer Uvero property - Costa Maya Real Estate costa maya beach - beach front property - costa maya real estate it belongs to a good friend Kevin Graham he is great

Mahahaul

We are thinking of going to Mahahual next weekend for the festivities there.

I need some recommendations on where to stay that arent overly expensive.

Around $70 per night. Also thinking about taking the bus. I could not find the

bus schedule. I need the schedule leaving on the 19th and retuning the 21st

and the price. Thank you for any help here.

This times are from/to Playa del Carmen.

From www.ticketbus.com.mx

No idea on hotels, but there should be many options on your price range.
