Taxi's from Playacar

How easy is it to get a taxi from Playacar? My mom doesn't walk that well, and will need cabs to get around now and then depending on the distance. We will be in Playacar Phase I. Thanks!

It's not easy to find taxis in Phase 1 (though it is quite easy in Phase 2). They just don't 'troll' there looking for fares. You'll likely have to exit Phase 1 and flag one on Avenida 10 or call for one. If you're renting a private home, the manager should be able to get the number for you and/or help you call for one. Many rental homes include a local cell phone either for free or for rent--it could be very handy for you, and the manager could pre-load the taxi number.

Thanks for the information. I will check with the house manager on it. I know there is a phone with free calls at the villa. Your answers are always so helpful.

There are always taxis at the Playacar Palace which is at the entrance to Playacar Phase 1. Depending on where you are staying, you may even be able to walk up and ask one to come to the villa.

Fairly good map of Fase 1: http://www.playacarfaseuno.com/sp/im...yacar-plan.pdf

Just find your house name somewhere on the map. Scale is that it takes around 15-20 mins to walk the length of fase 1, of course depending on walking speed.

Number to the "caseta" (guard post at the entrance), call this number to get a cab: 984-8794860. Some spanish may be needed to get a cab, since the guards usually do not speak English, but an advanced level is not needed.

Please note that the standard fare from this method is around 90 pesos (Playacar -> Centro).

Oh yeah, since you are staying on that street you may see me walk my dog form time to time.
