Do you have anyone on "ignore?"

We were discussing this on a political thread, and I thought I'd pose the question to everyone. If you have used the ignore fuction on PI, what were the reasons? If not, would you consider it? Why or why not?

I have never used it for the following reasons:

1) I'm waaaaaay too nosy.
2) Conflict can be good for the soul.
3) It seems like censorship. Not that you have to engage with someone you find unreasonable, but cutting out their voice entirely? It seems a bit of a bubble strategy: I'm safe from this person's point of view in my bubble.

What? And miss the fun of bitch slapping them? No!

But I'm pretty sure this response won't show up for everyone....

No. Personally I find it an immature and childish thing to do. I mean, if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen.

AND what Mel and Stephen said

I put one person on ignore once for about an hour. But then curiousity got the best of me. So I un-ignored them and just learned to not deal with them.

For what it is worth, the person is not a regular poster.

Putting someone on ignore is "getting out of the(their) kitchen".

And it is not that I can't take it, silly...it is that I CHOOSE not to take it.

This is my chuckle for the day! I might "steal" this for my own purposes! It reminds me of a line they would have used in Steel Magnolias.

From what I could tell, you can see that they have posted, but can't see what they have posted. That is why curiousity got the best of me.

It may be a more popular feature if instead of hiding the text of their post, it would say something like this: "I am a complete moron. This post is further proof of that."

I'm way too interested to use ignore. Besides, aside from the fact that I didn't know it existed, I'm perfectly capable of ignoring what I choose without electronic help.

Hehe! I don't think I need to wonder about that, I'm pretty sure I am

I considered putting a non-regular poster on ignore after a series of not-so-nice invasive PMs, but the moderators took care of it.

I like Mel's reasons. I think they fit me too. Especially the nosy part
