A little too much battle for one hour, IMO....I would have liked it better if they had split it up more with more Brienne and Jamie bits and Jon Snow bits and Bran and Hodor and Osha bits interspersed.
But it was still a gooder! Even if they naturally had to change a lot from how it played out in the book. But I guess that would have been WAY too big a budget. ![]() And yes, I am glad Tyrion gets to keep his nose. ![]() Heaven help me but I feel so sad for the Hound. ![]() Someone kill Joffrey, that little punk, already! |

"Any man dies with a clean sword, I'll rape his f*cking corpse" to: "No. I won't hurt you, little bird." Great episode. I just got caught up on demand because I missed it Sunday. Sad there is only one more episode left, but it looks like I'll have to dust off the True Blood thread soon!

Well I guess since all you book readers don't seem too worried about it, we're not going to lose Tyrion? This was not at all clear to me from just having watched that episode...
Also not clear to me was the situation with his attacker and his pause before being attacked, but a friend who is a reader informs me that that was Mandon of the king's guard in a bit of treachery? That is, before the new squire does Tyrion a potentially marvelous turn and does away with Mandon. So presumably this is a plot on the part of his older sister? Though there was no mention of it. She also inexplicably thinks she's already got one over Tyrion with the wrong woman, so not sure why she would go that route. And if she just wanted him killed I would guess she might have managed that already... |

One thing that is quite different in the books: Tyrion is described as extremely ugly, grotesque even. After the Blackwater battle, he loses a chunk of his nose and has a big facial scar to add to his already hideous features (in the book). The show cast an actor who (I think) is quite handsome. |

I'm kind of glad they didn't disfigure Tyrion the way they did in the book.
Don't feel too sorry for The Hound. They're making him somewhat likeable and I'm not sure he really deserves that. Well, he deserves it more than his brother, The Mountain, that's for sure! I loved, loved, loved last nights episode! Finally some action that doesn't involve boobs! ![]() I like the way they used the wildfire in the show. Slightly different than how they did it in the book. Also, they left out Tyrion's little chain thingy that he had built but I think they did the battle scene justice. I am madly in love with Bronn - coolest sellsword ever!

I also really liked Sunday's episode. I was impressed with how the showmakers kept the tension going, even for the book readers who knew the outcome of the battle. I was biting my nails!
![]() I did miss Tyrion's chain strategy, though. The maritime battle just seemed too short and I thought in the book they used a lot more of the wildfire? But that's a small quibble. Bummed that there's only one episode left. But so pumped for season 3!! Speaking of which, it was pretty cool to hear "The Rains of Castamere"

I felt sorry for the Hound in the book too, actually. I thought Martin made him into a really sympathetic character. He did a lot of bad things but once you learned how his brother half-killed him and see his fear of fire, etc., you understand better.... and then he redeems himself somewhat by helping Sansa, etc. Amy, I missed the chain part too- I was very disappointed they left that out, that was THE thing that won it for them. I imagine it was just too $$ to film.

I liked the episode a lot. However, I missed the chain. That was a strategy that Tyrion came up with himself athat was crucial to the win on the water in the book. With only an hour, it would have been tough to do it justice as I thought the water scene was a bit too brief anyways. I thought the scene of the war outside of the castle gates would be really confusing to a non book reader, figuring outy who was who. I thought Cersei was excellent as far as acting. She made things very tense from a different perspective. Bronn is cool like a young Clint Eastwood. However, I would have thought that he and his compatriots would have been much more savage. |

I take it Tyrion lives then...thanks to the Gods. I love him!So why does Hound keep saving Sansa? Does he just feel bad for her? I don't know the back story, so its harder getting a sense of why he feels the need to always keep her safe. It was all so jumbled up and dark at the end (would have helped non-readers if the scene was done in the daytime!) did Stannis get captured or killed? If so, that leaves the one true heir to the throne then, right? The guy with Arya? |

Season finale was pretty damn good!
I liked how they "wrapped up" Dani's storyline with Qarth and the House of the Undying - sure, different from the books but satisfying enough. Scene with Khal Drogo was touching. I'm curious how the storyline with Theon will go from here - with no Reek. At least, not yet. Would have preferred that the showmakers remained a bit more faithful to the Robb marriage storyline, though - with him not telling anyone including his mother ahead of time. And the Others / White Walkers (or riders, as the case turns out ) - sweet. All in all, I thought it was a good wrap up to a good season. Cannot wait for Season 3!!
