Food, fun, and frolicking with the family April 2011

We just returned from another great trip to Playa Del Carmen!

The trip planning began about a year ago when we were sitting around at my Dad's house on Easter and my husband, Vic, said "Hey Bill(my Dad), when are you going to take us all on a trip to Mexico?" After a few weeks of convincing him that it was a safe place to go and it would be a lot of fun, he finally agreed it was a good idea. Since we lost my Mom to breast cancer on November 11, 2009, we thought it would be a good idea for him to get away(us too).

Here is our group of 9

Back row:
Chris(brother in law), Brian(brother), Vic(husband), Bill(Dad)
Front row:
Carla(sister), Dana(Brian's Girlfriend), Alisa(me), Brenda(sister), and Esther(Dad's girlfriend)

More to come after work today. I got a little side-tracked with the kids last night.

Vic and I decided to add a couple of extra days to the trip so we left on Thursday instead of Saturday. We spent 2 nights with Brent(Maverick69) and Kathleen in their condo.

Here we are with our first 2 Mexican beers on the way to Playa

We stopped for a quick breakfast at Vagabunda on the way to Brent and Kathleen's condo

Our first tequiila shot at Brent and Kathleen's

After dinner at La Tarraya, we went to Bad Boys to meet up with Ian and Connie(Tristalbert)

Then over to Mom's for a poker game

The next morning I woke up with the world's worst headache. Although all of the beer and tequila shots may have had something to do with this, It was mostly the lack of agua on the first day. As soon as Vic brought me a cold water and a couple of motrin, I was good as new.

Here we are wandering up 5th on Friday morning

Vic's mexican eggs at 100% natural

Kathleen and I had a really good wrap there, but we didnt get a pic of it

Trying on sunglasses at one of the shops on 5th

The beach straight down from Playa Mart

Taking a stroll along the beach

We bought some of these from someone on the beach-not sure what they are called, but they were good

On Friday night there was a small parade down 5th with some wrestlers that were going to fight on Saturday.

Photo op on 5th

Dinner at Carboncitos

After dinner at Carboncitos, we waited for my Dad, his girlfriend and one of my sisters to get into town. They were supposed to get into town around noon, but due to several issues with Spirit, they didn't show up until 10:30. I thought they would be exhausted and want to go straight to bed, but apparently my Dad is more of a partier than I thought. We ended up going to Fusion.

Toast to our family vacation

Dad and Esther "salsa" dancing

Notice the guy in the black with black shoes with his feet up on the table. As he was leaving Fusion, he stopped by our table and said to my Dad,"I don't care what anyone says, You are a great dancer. But if you were on the gong show, I would've gonged you." We all thought that was pretty funny.

The next morning, we headed over to get checked in to Palmar Del Sol on 32nd and 5th. It is a beautiful condo complex with a very nice pool in a garden area. The management was great and took care of all of our needs.

We decided on El Fogon for dinner. My other sister and her husband came in Saturday around noon and my brother and his girlfriend met us at El fogon. We are all officially here!

Our whole table at El fogon

After El Fogon, we wandered back to the condo to hang out and do some shots

We walked up the spiral stairs to the rooftop to check out the view

After a long day of fun in the sun, we called it a day. Next up-La Cueva Del Chango for Sunday morning breakfast.
