I just try to drive less. Of course 52 gallons of
93 octane in the boat this morning hurts a bit.

I do and have always tried to consolate errands while working. But I visit so many wastewater plants every week, making 2 days a week driving about 100 miles each day. The other days my trips are around 20 miles each day. And they are rural, not usually around other things I need/want to do. And yes I do make special trips in town 4 times a week to the Y. Can't be helped if I am going to work out. Right now I drive a Ford Exp, 18 miles to gallon. It has almost 200,000 miles on it, I will be replacing it next year and will buy a smaller more econimical car. I drive mostly country roads not highway.

Hubby has 2 trucks, 2002 F150 and 2004 F150 with towing package and all on it. He drives mostly the 2002 and only about 20 miles a week now! I drive the most!

All told we spend about $500.00 a month on gas!

So right now, I vote deal with it.

I started riding a bicycle for exercise 3 years ago and now I've started using it for transportation around town and shopping for groceries. Hell I even use it for trips to the tav. Yeah I guess they can ticket you for drunk riding

It's tough to ride a bike drunk. After 10 miles, still wasn't sober. It sucked.

I drive a truck for my business. I will just pass on the costs to my customers. Live with that. As far as learning to live it, the sheep are all in line to drink the kool-aid. We should start using the oil we died for in Iraq. When Bush was in office everybody including myself yelled sellout to big oil. Obama and all the rest have been bought and paid for.
Conservation is a great idea but its years away. If gas prices keep going up we are all going to be screwed with inflation going up. 1970s all over agian. JCOS Jimmy carter on steriods.

Bought a motorcycle. I have to cover three counties on a daily basis. Last year this time it cost $26 to fill up our Mazda Protege.

It cost me $21 to fill up my motorcycle Friday. Last year it was half that. And they are talking about it going up another .30 - .40 by the end of May.

You are simply wrong about that.

Conservation works

People live in countries colder than ours with higher standards of living on far less per capita energy use than the US has.

I seem to remember that correctly. But you probably did not know that.

It is simply silly for you to say that conservation is "years away" and not worth pursuing right now........It is quite easy to prove to you if you care to exercise your brain a bit. Want to try? I mean, just think, you could prove me wrong and send me back to the Kumbaya circle....

There are infinite sources of oil. Why conserve?

We are talking gasoline not overall energy use. We live in a big country with spread out cities not small cities like Europe. Higher standards of living I don't think so myself. We have a way of life here that alot of people hate maybe yourself and want to be more like Europe. I don't. America is the best country on earth because of our higher standards and we need to keep them not give them away. We should fight for them if we need too.

I don't drive very far..usually stick closer to home. Now, We usually go somewhere in Slim's honda instead of the Taurus if we are going further than 10 miles. He gets a gas allowance for work..so it's like free gas.

The company I work for supplies my fuel and vehicle for work..

Other than that I'm waiting for Obama to buy me a New Truck that gets 50mpg while towing a trailer..I'm sure it will become a human right..

You may not think so other countries have a higher standard of living, but there are fairly objective measures that indicate otherwise.

If I hated the US, I probably would not have served in our military. Tell us about your service.

America is not a country, it is a land mass that contains multiple countries

Parts of Europe are wonderful places to visit and live.
