So far Mudslides and Miami Vices have been recommended. Honestly, I'm looking for some ice cold Corona's in the proper atmosphere (toes in the sand with the waves lapping at the shore). However, maybe I'll try those drinks for breakfast. Mudslides are creamy like milk and I'm sure the Miami Vice has fruit juice.
Can anybody tell I'm really ready to leave... |

Grammatt,
I leave on Sat. Feb. 28th and have been looking forward to this trip since October. 8) I have found the information on this board extremely useful, especially about Secrets since it was a little discouraging reading the reports when it first opened. It seems like they have ironed out a lot of the growing pains and I am totally ready to relax for one week with choosing between a Miami Vice, Mojitos, Mudslides or Corona's as being my only decision I will have to make. I am planning to swim with the dolphins in Puerto Aventuras and spend a day in PDC but that will be the extent of leaving the resort. I will post a detailed report upon my return on March 6th. Have a great week. Lizzie |

That's right, I forgot we'll be there the same time. I have noticed a few more disappointing reviews on tripadvisor lately. I really don't care at this point. We stayed at the one in Punta Cana and thought it was better than Sandals. I can't imagine that the same company would let a brand new one get too far out of hand. With enough alcohol, there's always a bright side. I look forward to seeing you there. We'll be the loud and obnoxious group of six. |

Hi All,
I stumbled across this board while doing research on AIs in the Riviera Maya area, and have found it helpful. My travel agent informed me that several properties we were originally looking at are booked for April, which left us with three choices: Aventura, Grand Xcaret, & Secrets. I think I've been making myself crazy trying to pick the "right" resort; although, I know that we'll have a great time no matter where we choose to go. Some of the reviews on this board and on tripadvisor have made me a little nervous - with regard to all 3 places. DH and I seem to be leaning towards Secrets at this moment....I do like having a beach when I go away! The reviews lately seem to be much more positive, so that's a little more comforting. ![]() |

Lisa S - Like yourself, I was making myself crazy trying to find the "right" resort. This is my 1st time to PCD and my other AI experiences have been at Sandals and Beaches. Then I stumbled on this site http://www.jmtravel.com/secrets_capri.htm. (check it out) Call their 800 number and talk to Judy or Maria. They just returned in January and said it was magnificent. They viewed the resort in October right before it opened and knew there were going to be some beginning growing pains for a new resort. We decided to take the chance and now we are booked for March 20th Jr Oceanview Suite. By the way, they gave me the best price after researching several travel agencies and the hotel direct. Can hardly wait!!

I have also researched this trip to no end! There are more positive reports out there than negative. There are some people out there that will not be happy anywhere. I am sure that this is a great choice! I cannot wait for the Miami Vices... they do sound wonderful!!!! We were thinking of going to Aventura but they only have a lagoon... no beach...so that was out of the question. Lizzie and Grammatt please be sure to post as soon as you get back! Can't wait to hear.... have a blast. 8)

Thanks, Robino...I have actually already read that review on Judy & Maria's site - very positive. I did call there this morning just to compare prices...their price was a little bit lower than the price I had gotten from my local travel agent. They were very helpful, and said Secrets is wonderful and they send many people there each day. I'm pretty sure I'm going to book it for April. I am also looking forward to reading Lizzie & Grammatt's trip reviews when they return!
