Riu Yucatan in April
Im coming to the RUI Yucatan in April. Was wondering about a few things.
- Is Yucatan right on the beach? - How close is the Yucatan to RIU Playacar? What is the proximity to the RIU Playacar? - Are the drinks watered down as I've read? What is their domestic beer? Can you get it in a bottle? - Can someone staying at the Playacar or Yucatan use the the other RIU resorts? - Should we tip the wait-staff on an all inclusive plan? If so,how much, how often? - when is the busy season? Will we have a problem getting beach chairs or other land 'stuff'? Thanks for your help! |

Riu Yucatan
We just returned from the Yucatan on Sunday.
It is right on the beach. The Yucatan is separated from the Playacar by 2 other resorts, the Riu Palace and the Viva Maya. It's about a 5 minute walk up the beach, toward town. I did not consider the drinks watered down. A couple of times, my wife had to have hers watered down as they were too strong for her. The beer is Corona, on tap. They have bottles in the minifridge in each room, but no bottles anywhere else. You have access to the facilities at all other Riu resorts except the Palace. We tipped our housekeeper, but didn't tip our waiter. We found that the waiter didn't really do much for you other than take away empty plates and glasses. We tipped when we stayed at the Palace on a previous trip. The waiters there were much more attentive and helpful. I think we tipped them at the end of our stay. I don't recall how much. It seemed pretty busy when we were there and we didn't have any problem finding chairs, etc. We were at the beach by 8 or 9 every morning. Have fun! |
