Question about saving money on hotels

My fiancee and I are planning to spend our honeymoon at PDC June 26-July 2. Of course we are looking to do this as cheaply as possible and still have a good time. I have been doing my homework by serfing the net and this forum and have a question. What is the best way to find the best deal on a hotel? Many have posted that one can find the best bargain by booking the first couple of nights and then bargaining with the hotels for the rest of the stay. However, I am also interested in the free playa card by booking 4 nights. Any tips for getting the lowest rate possible in advance? I appreciate any help.

By the way, we are not interested in the AIs at the big resorts. Been there, done that in Cancun. We prefer smaller with character.

Costa del Mar and ****** are both cheap, clean and on the beach. You can always just purchase the Playa Info card which is a must.

We've got reservations in July at Playa-Maya Hotel. Check it out...seems to be very reasonable and right on the beach. Make sure you make reservations thru here if you decide to do that.....that way you'll get a free Playa-Maya card. We missed out :cry: by calling directly...our mistake
