This may not be a tourist recommendation, but us Playacar neighbors really like the atmophere, the food & the owners hospitality.
Yea, so maybe we Playacar Fase 2 residents don't feel like driving all the way into Playa for a meal.

1) Hey Mo, it' ALLAN not BUDDY

2) You can go ahead and differ. I never said anything about the food and whether or not is was a value......another peep did. I have never eaten there and therefore have no opinion as to the quality/value of the food. Commented on the location though.

3) Greek food to me would be like Chinese food...........you just don't eat it every day. Once a week, once every two weeks, once a month....but not every day. So besides from a great hangout for "many Playacar Fase 2 neighbors".............I will stand by MY OPINION that the restaurant is in a terrible location - that is except for "Playacar Fase 2 neighbors" as they might be the only ones that are able to find it .

Sorry that you didn't get my point. Certainly not comparing eating Chinese food to Greek food. BUT I AM TALKING ABOUT THE FACT THAT MOST PEOPLE DO NOT EAT THE SAME TYPE FOOD EVERYDAY. Do you eat italian food 7 days a week? Most people don't eat Chinese, Greek, Thai, Italian, Mexican, sushi, etc.,etc. etc. everyday. I am talking about tourists. Sorry that you missed my point. Read that part of my post once more (#3) as I am saying that people DO NOT EAT THE SAME FOOD 7 DAYS A WEEK. Do you see where I said "once a week, once evry two weeks, once a month". Do you get it now.
By the way, have you eaten there yet.......didn't think so.

I eat Italian 7 days a week as I don't know how to cook mexican...takes too long! Yes I do get your point, Al, maybe the location is not the best as its far for toursts to reach, but I think that if the place is nice and clan, the food is good and prices decent, it can last a long time even with locals. And locals as we all know are the best customers, they are here 365/365 and most of us work with tourists...I always recommend only the places that i like to go to myself...
I haven't been there yet, I'm on a pretty strict diet but I hope to go there very soon. I love Greek food, especially in summer time its so fresh!
Have you been there? Did you like it?
I need the menu, Al

......... ....there, now you have their menus in Greek, Chinese, Japanese, English, Spanish and Italian (you see, I made the Italian menu easy for you to read).

Replying to the second point first, how can you be on a "pretty strict diet" but be eating Italian food everyday. Isn't that like an oxymoron.

And as far as your first point, not sure that I can agree with you. I just don't feel like there are enough locals in Playacar that will go to a Greek restaurant and eat Greek food often enough for the place to survive there longterm....... no matter how clean the place is, how good the food is and how good of a value the food is. Time will tell.

Woops!!!...my mistake! I was referring to El Bistro when I wrote my praises. It is the restaurant owned by the Galvaston, Texas couple. They are still in business & I love the food & their hospitality!

.
Well that changes things. I was at the Original Playacar Bistro opening day. Nice, nice folks. I know that they were trying to get hold of some real corned beef. Do you know if they ever did?

No, just REALISTIC. Having owned and operated bars and restaurants for the 17 year period preceding my moving to Playa and additionally having a consulting company - I am probably a lot more realistic than optimistic. If I was optimistic, I would open a bar here but never a restaurant.
I just walked up to calle 40 on AV. 5 then down to Constituyentes on AV. 10 then back up AV. 5 to calle 28..............my conclusion: TO MANY RESAURANTS AND BARS AND NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE...........a simple, and in my opinion, a correct conclusion.

Since you are in the bar/restaurant business here - do you want to cry ....THAT IS THE QUESTION.

Yeah, but with Italian food. You better go get those Greek salads.
Damn, OPA sure was a disappointment. Poor excuse for Greek food. What were they thinking .
