Day 9 Puerto Morelos. We have stayed the last 2 years in this sleepy fishing village and thorougly enjoyed our stay. We always have to see our friends Sandra & Dan Dayton at the Jungle Spa. It is located across 307 about a mile into the jungle but very accesable. We only have a couple of experiences to compare to but IMHO, the women at the Junlgle Spa have incredible talents. I have a bad left shoulder and I had a group of the girls working on me for over the hour I paid for. They are amazing.

We went into town and grabbed some lunch and headed back to Playa.

We d to go meet JJ at Bad Boys. Since I brought a couple of harps w/ me, he was nice enough to let me sit in w/ the NB.s for a couple of songs. Rosie shot some video on the Canon D10 but I have no but I'm not sure how the best way is to share it. If anybody could give me some tips, it would be appreciated.

Day 10. We booked a trip to Punta Allen to see Tortugas, Dolphins, snorkel and sightsee. I arose early to find some breakfast. I walked down the zocola in search of food. The carts were just setting up at the end or Juarez.

We caught the van up on 10th and headed to Tulum. Stopped for snacks and then on to Sian Kaan. We had done the Canal tour a couple of years ago and were aware of the mystical beauty and vastness of this area. We were also familiar with the beach road. If you go, try to get a seat up front in the van and maybe a dramamine is in order. A couple hours on the beach road and you will soon know why. Is it worth the long trip (right at 4 hours 1way)? Absolutely.

More Punta Allen to come....

Wow! Great TR and wonderful photos!!

We do the same as you: we first spend a week in Akumal (we stayed at the Hotel of HAC one year and last year stayed at the Canon House Studio which we booked again for next May) to unwind and de-stress and then do a week in Playa with lots of peeps from this Forum.

Maybe we can share a cocktail at Lol-Ha some afternoon??!

Well let's see now, where was i. The daytrip to Punta Allen. Once there, we took a panga out to see the Dolphins and turtles up close. I was use to seeing turtles lazily grazing on short grass in Akumal Bay. Our launch was doing around 20 mph and these loggerheads were keeping up with us. I had no idea they could move that fast. We saw some cool seabirds nesting in trees. The reef they let us snorkel was in good shape and saw lots of coral and fish. our next stop was what they call a natural swimming pool.

We headed back to the dock for a fabulous lunch of fresh fish. Then the long pothole filled ride back to Tulum after a wonderful daytrip.

Day 11 we hung around Playa Maya and enjoyed the beach.

Since NB's were playin @ Bad Boys, we got cleaned up and had dinner there. Again JJ was nice enough to let me sit in and sing and play some blues with the boys.

Can someone tell me how to get to Lol Ha? Is it near the dive shops in Akumal?
I am enjoying your trip report and all of the beautiful photos.

Day 12, the end is drawing near. Been tryin' to find someone to split a half day of fishing since arrival in Playa. Tim e running out so I booked with Chico for the next day.

Up early to meet at the launch and saw these girls getting ready to shoot a video in front of Blue Parrot.

Chico showed up around 8 and got the launch ready and we headed out to try our luck.

After 4 hours of hard fishing with no cooperation from anything underwater, we headed back to shore. About 200 yards from the beach, I snagged a small Cuda. Chico filet it for me and the great cooks at Playa Maya prepared it for Rosie and I for Lunch. It was nother great and memorable meal in paradise.
