I was there in January and can't wait to go back. As as AI, I was totally amazed at just how much fun you can have without needing to go into town. However, the nightly entertainment's over by 10:30 p.m. and the disco is pretty much empty by 12:30 p.m. so if you're into the nightlife, it's into town you go. It was my first visit, so I don't know about Spring Breakers . . . but it is a pricy hotel and I didn't see a lot of younger people - it was mostly couples and families.

PDC hops As late as you want it to. The bars in town all close depending on the mood of the patrons - at least that's how I figured it. One night it was 5 at Capitan TuxTix . . . another it was 3 a.m. There's always people in the streets and private parties. I pretty much found you could stay out till past 5 every night if you wanted to.

There are many good things about V Maya. The one situation there that is challenging is that people save their spaces on the beach VERY early! If you're not up by 7 ish good luck trying to get a spot on the beach during a busy time.

I Loved Viva Maya. The staff was great and there was a constant array of activities during the day. You could stay at the hotel and participate - or go into town. It's really your choice. I found there was enough to keep me occupied during the entire day at the Hotel if you just followed the activities. The beach is nice but can get crowded if you don't pick your spot early, as MM stated.
On the whole I found the guests to be very friendly - most were glad to sit with you and chat about where they're from, their culture, etc. You'll meet Canadians, Americans, Europeans and many people from Central and South America. Just post back if you have any specifics. But I will say I plan on going back as soon as I can. |

Looking forward to 1st PDC visit this weekend and, after touring the pdcinfo website, am already looking forward to next year. This will be @ viva maya with my daughter, but next adults and some smaller local hotels sounds cool. apparently plenty to do and neat people to meet. Any special fun events this weekend?
