It was sarcasm...not a joke. It is a form of taking offense at the way the word Muslim was spelled in this thread She did not not make a "joke" about the bombing or those hurt by it.

Sarcasm is “a sharp, bitter, or cutting expression or remark; a bitter jibe or taunt.”

Maybe we should get back to the original issue on hand: something terrible has happened in Oslo this afternoon and some time later on an island where hundreds of young people were gathered together. My heart goes out to the parents who still don't know if their kids are okay and to the people who have lost a loved one today.

EDIT: she's, quite clearly, pointing out the ethnic slur that was in the OP.

You get your undies in a bunch over that, but completely overlook the original slur?!
Just for clarification - That's what I was referring to in agreeing about this should not be a thread with jokes -- I understand what Maggie was getting at.

I believe Andiline is correct though, we should concern ourselves with the victims and their loved ones. They are the most important focus.

I was looking at the pictures and I just kept thinking these poor people were probably excited it was a Friday, they were at work, looking forward to the weekend like all of us are right now and then their lives get completely turned upside down. Then, Like Andiline said, there are the parents who don't know if their kids are alive or not. I just can't even imagine the horror they must be feeling. Ugh, just awful, awful.

As much as everyone thought 'Al Quaida' immediately, I am glad to read that the attacks - according to the police - were not international terrorism. They say they know the people the killer from the island was in contact with and this was a national party. Not good for Norway but it lowers the fears of other european countries who of course thought that we could have more attacks coming in other countries too.

Same here. An adult, no matter what reasons, shooting children is horrible of course. I hope the legal system in Norway puts him in a cellar with no light, no bano, and no food for the rest of his miserable life.

Based on what? Just a leap of faith?

"quoted witnesses as saying the man — described as "tall, blond and Nordic-looking" and speaking Norwegian — wore a police uniform and summoned youth at the political gathering to gather around him before he "just executed them"

Yeah, like maybe he doesn't even know he's Muslim but when they run the new AmIMusOrNot test on him they'll find he's internally shiite.

The gunman is Norwegian.

It's being considered that it's politically motivated, nothing to do with religion.

Such a sad tragic event.

I can understand how the majority of people would think "muslim terrorists" with any bombings..they do have a long history and the majority of this type of violence is from Islamic terrorism. I am sure that Many cities around the world took note and upped their security alerts. It would be stupid not to until all the facts were in.
To chatise anybody for it is silly and arrogant.

I'm not up on Norwegian politics so I won't get into it.

Prayers for the victims and their families.

They don't know yet. I've just been listening to a live interview with the mayor of Oslo.
