We just had a nice dinner with trip notes

A 2008 Anglim Zinfandel - from the tasting room where Bonny and Mike met us in Paso Robles. Wow, what a good wine!!

Salmon and veggies oven roasted in a foil pouch, with Uno's habañero jelly spread on the salmon.

We had such a wonderful time with such lovely peeps!!

I'll post some more photos later.

Annnd your awesome corn salsa and cheese plate! I ate way more of that salsa than anything else I think. Both nights!

The games did come to a halt when the snacks came out. Everybody hovered in a circle around the snack table like it was a small fire on a cold night. (More assorted snacks hit the table after that pic.) It was a buzzed up feeding frenzy. Or, as I did, a long afternoon of steady grazing.

We opened a bottle of Anglim Zinfandel from Paso Robles last night.

It was very, very good. No, it was better than that.

I am going to post some Paso Robles stuff here

It was a race to Paso. Mike and Bonny left Yosemite that Wednesday morning, in the Suburban pulling the trailer.

Kathy and I left Oakland on the Coast Starlight Amtrak train.

Did I say it was a race?

Mike and Bonny won, but not by much

They waved at us from the Anglim Winery tasting room as we disembarked.

Here are some photos from the Wine Country RV Resort and the wineries

Waiting for dinner

Home away from home

Falcon Nest Winery

The vineyard

The dining room - did I say the owner was a retired chef from Tuscany?

The antipasto plate and carmelized onion / blue cheese pizza were good

Good wine and good food and good company

More Paso Robles later.

Great pictures Ron!
Hopefully MikeW can download my pics and post some.
What a great trip, and this second winery was excellent. The chef from Tuscany also grows and makes his own wine on premises. The Zin was a pure Zin--and very, very good...
Good food, good wine, good friends, life is good

The race to Paso. We left Yosemite around 8AM. The goal to meet Roni and Kathy in Paso Robles at the train station at 1:30PM. We left about an hour later than I had hoped. As we traveled, Bonny and Roni (Hey, that rhymes), traded text messages. As we drove through Fresno, CA we got a message that Roni and Kathy's train was now due to arrive in Paso Robles around 2:15PM. "Hey Bonny, Text Roni we will race him to Amglin Wine tasting room, like the races in the BBC TV show Top Gear."

And the winners are !!!! Us !!!! We took the picture from the patio of the wine tasting room. We got there about 30 seconds before they did. We also left the passenger door wide open on the truck, where we parked it in the street.

The olives at Falcon Next were awesome. Black, green and jalapeno-stuffed (da best) He also grows his own olives on his own property (picks and pickles them there too) and puts then into his food.
How awesome is that?
