Just a note on tours (we did not go to Cozumel)... we booked Chichen itza through the MP & had a GREAT guide by the name of Antonio. He's Mayan & was very informative. I can't wait for my pictures.
We booked a trip to Xcaret through Price Tours & I'm telling everyone DON'T BOOK WITH PRICE TOURS!! They told our group (of 7!) to be out front at 9:15 p.m. & we were out there about 5 minutes after the show ended (which made it about 8:50), and they NEVER CAME! We stood there for an hour while the security guys tried to call Price Tours & the MP (which the MP hung up on us about 5 times when trying to transfer us to someone). We ended up taking 2 cabs back to Playa del Carmen. Luckily, this was the only bad thing on out trip. we had room 3053, and it was perfect for us (about 1/2 way between the pool & the lobby). Word of advice: BRING BUG SPRAY! Our whole group was bitten beyond belief. I am still suffering some of these pesky bites. UGH! Kristen |

kFike73,
thanks for your post! How was the construction noise?? Are all the restaurants up and running? Did they put the hammocks back around the pool? Did you request that room number or is that what they gave you? thanks in advance for answering my questions. |

I didn't really notice too much noise. Jackhammering at about 10 AM one day on the building next to the jungle (my room faced the jungle), but I think everyone is pretty much awake by then. Didn't notice too much at the building by the pool. They had music playing (although my suggestion is to take your personal CD walkman - their music was lacking in variety). Once it got dark, the construction that was going on was stuff that was quiet (they were putting stones on the wall in the bulding by the pool - all masonry work & no noise). There's still a long way to go, so I'd like to go back when its all done.
There is only 2 "restaurants". The one by the pool (open during the day), and the one closer to the beach. The one by the beach is where they do breakfast & the buffet dinners when it rains. Decent food, a little pricey, but good. My Corona's were 32 pesos each. The hammocks are not up. They have the hammock chairs by the bar at the beach, but that's it. They just assigned the room. I didn't request anything. Worked out well, though, because we were at the lobby & the pool about equal amounts of time! The 'jungle' side that my room was on was quiet. Don't know about the other side! Kristen |

OK, this post is getting a bit long, so I'm going to lock it down so that new ones are made. Let's try to make new posts that are more specific to certain aspects of a resort rather than the resort in general.
and gracias for all your contributions to the forum! |
