We decided to stay at the resort today. We drove up the road to buy breakfast and some groceries. We bought some Costa Rican Rum, pina colada mix and strawberry daiquiri mix, beer and some chips. You know, the essentials. After eating our breakfast, I went to rent some boogie boards for the girls, they charged $20.00 for each boogie board. Unfortunately, it took them all a while to finally leave the room. We went and layed out by the pool for a little while and ordered drinks at the pool bar. Once we finished those drinks, I went back to the room and made some more. We then went to the beach so the girls could use the boogie boards. I think they probably used the boards for maybe ½ hour. Note to self… no more boogie boards for the girls. We made lunch in the room and went back to the pool afterwards.
Around dinnertime it was raining so we decided to eat at the restaurant. Susy had shrimp fettuchini, Vicky had a hamburger, Michael had fish and I had a steak dish. Our total bill was $77.00 with our drinks.
After dinner we went to the family center and when that closed we hit the casino again. Not much luck tonight so we left early and called it a night around 10:30.

love this view!

I'm still not sure why, but none of your pic's show up for me. Any chance you could put a link here to them?
You were in one of my all time favorite places and I sure would love to see it from your eye's (or camera lens)

Oh no, so sorry you are not able to see them. How could I put them on a link here? I barely know how to post the pictures on here... I'm not that good with posting stuff... (that is the reason I still don't have an avatar pic)

I have them in photobucket, is there a way I can have you look at them on there?

Today was our adventure day. We woke up around 6:00 a.m. and left around 7:10. We drove around 45 minutes to Pura Aventura. The first part of our adventure was the ATV ride. It was great because it was only us and our guide. We did the waterfall route as it was more for beginners than the mountain top one. Our path took us through small rivers. It was lots of fun. We would go one by one, and lift our legs up so we wouldn’t get wet. I couldn’t believe there were houses up our route. We saw a couple of kids out and they would wave at us as we drove by. I felt bad because I didn’t wave back. I was to busy concentrating on not tipping over! When we got to the waterfall I asked our guide about the people living there, turns out they have no electricity and they grow most of their food. If they go down into town, they go by horseback.
After our ATV ride we waited for some more people and they put us on a truck/bus and we drove up the mountain for our canopy part of the tour. There were probably about 16 people all together. Once at the top, they gave us our gear and gave us a brief demonstration. Then it was time to zip line! I was terrified and they said that if you were nervous that you could have an escort go with you, so I was the first in line! I did the first two with an escort and then line # 4 with an escort (because I knew it was a long one!). After that, I did the rest by myself. It was an awesome experience.
Towards the end of the tour, Susy got to go upside down. Of course she had an escort with her, but it still freaked me out. Some other girls in our group saw her and they wanted to do the same! It was a fun time. The Cost for Pura Aventura was $110.00 each, a little on the steep side, but we really enjoyed our day and they were very professional. I would recommend them in a heartbeat!
After our tour, we drove back to our resort and we stopped off in Brasilito to have lunch because we were starving! Our lunch was very good and it was only about $33.00. While we were shopping in Brasilito it starting pouring rain for about 10 mins. We then went back to our resort and since it was not raining there the girls decided to get in the pool. After the pool we showered and changed and went to the family center. It was a long fun filled day and we all crashed around 10:30.

Our drive to Pura Aventura

The girls were laughing because I wore my capris.... it was so hot!!! as soon as our guide said no worries, you can wear shorts, I changed! Yes!!

Today we decided to drive over to Playa Del Coco. It was around a 45 minute drive from Playa Flamingo. Once we got there, we were a little disappointed to discover that there was low tide. We had to walk a bit to get to the water. The girls decided they didn’t like the beach and did not want to go in the water, so we decided to go have lunch. It was very good and we had left overs so we asked the waitress if we could pick up our food after we finished shopping, since it was too hot to keep in the car. She was very nice and kept it for us.
We then shopped til we dropped! That is pretty much were we did all of our souvenier shopping. The prices were a little better than the other places we had been to and they had a lot more stores than any of the other places we had visited. We shopped for about 2-3 hours, then picked up our food and drove back to Flamingo Beach. We stopped by the market for more drinks then went back to our room and ate our leftovers.
We then did our usual nightly ritual and went to the family center for some ping pong and pool and then to the Casino. We called it a night around 10:30. All in all it was a nice relaxing day.

Ok, hopefully this time my pictures will show up.

Thursday, August 4, 2011Today was a sad day, it was our last full day in Costa Rica. We had lunch down the street at a place called Maries. The price was $40.00 for 4 breakfasts.
After breakfast we went to the beach for a little bit. It was a pretty hot day. We decided to drive over to Brasilito and go to Playa Conchal. After the beach we had lunch in Brasilito again and did some last minute shopping. We came back to the resort to start packing. After we finished we went to the family center and to the casino to finish up our tokens. We went to bed around 10:00 – 10:30.

Today we were going to be flying back home. Our vacation was over. We got up, finished packing and attempted to eat all the leftovers we had in the fridge. We left our hotel around 8:50 a.m. We got to the car rental place around 10:00 a.m.
When we arrived at the airport, we discovered that we had to pay an exit tax of $26.00 per person!! I had not even heard of this and thank God we still had money left! I don’t know what they would do if you don’t have the money to pay, but I would hate for someone to miss their flight because of lack of funds to pay for the exit tax.
The airport, is very small, although they are still building it so hopefully it will be better next time we go. The part that we were in was similar to the section we were in when we arrived. It looks like a warehouse, with a corrugated looking metal roof, open on some of the sides and the big fans in the ceilings that look like giant propellers. It was pretty hot and as far as a food court, I think there was only one or maybe two places with food. There was a gift shop and a duty free store. Of course everything was crowded, but I went into the stores a couple of times, just to cool off.
We left around 11:45 and we arrived in Houston about 20 minutes early. I’m so glad we did, because we needed as much time as we could get, we needed to pick up our luggage, go back through customs and immigration and once done with that, we had to walk all the way back to where our gate was. We had enough time to pick up some food and just as we were sitting down to eat, we realized they were already boarding, so we packed up our food and headed to our gate. We arrived in LAX around 7:20 p.m. A long trip home, but totally worth it.

Our road was blocked on our way to the airport!

Too funny!!

They were also driving down the main road with this

Ok, now I've seen everything!

Yes I totally agree. The scenery is beautiful. I would go again, only because we didn't get to do the Volcanoes or jungles because we were pretty far from them and my daughter gets car sick. But as far as the beaches, I preferred the pool at the hotel.

Funny thing is that when we were shopping and we would come into a store, we would always say, hola, como esta... and they would respond, "Pura Vida"... it took me a while to get used to that. LOL
