I would recommend the Riu Yucatan. We stayed there in Jan 2001. It is bigger than Riu Playacar. It has a great beach, one of the best in Playacar. Plus the Riu Tequila is right across the street and you can use the facilities there as well. Tequila has a great pool (not that the Yucatan's is bad, just the Tequila's is bigger).
