There has always been a lineup of taxi drivers and other locals waiting for their empanadas and all our daughter's friends order them for takeout for morning coffee breaks.
I am heading to Bancomer in Centro Maya. How do i find these ladies?

Tio Cabana, I have the name so will be looking for it, I may have to stop on my way through to Mahahual on the 21st for my lunch.

Are they in the Parking area or across the road (which I guess is the Northside of Big Street) from the Vivaro (Nursery)?

I am definitely stopping here prior and maybe after the bank.

Thanks

I like the empanadas at La portena.......

Calle 38 between 5 th ave & 10 th ave

Personally, I prefer the Argentinian style as compared to the Mexican style.

It was close to my Hotel and tasted darn good. I can't wait to go back and try some.

Seems like they had chicken, beef , cheese and 1 or 2 more. They are from the cart that a coupe of ladies have there , I think Heather is the one that told about this cart in the first place so we had to give it a try. It was a few years back but they were still there last year.

I saw that you are having a 4th street bar crawl but what about Moms, 4th & 30th, bar opens a 4pm

I had a queso and a pollo empanada at the food carts at the end of Juarez this morning. They were okay. I walked by the cart by Plaza Pelicanos and the were busy. They looked. Much better and had more toppings. I'll try to go there tomorrow

Also had one last night at El Diez. Chorizo and chess again okay

Does anyone know where the empanada place next to Centro Maya went?

I just heard that the empanada place across from Centro Maya is no longer there - it has been replaced by a new building. Does anyone know if they moved to a new location?

They are still there, right next to the new building. Must stop in one day soon!

Best Empenadas... easy !!!

The best Empenadas and the Argentinian style Empenadas that they serve at LA PORTENA (On calle 38 just north of la Quinta) Hummmmm Hummmmm

La Portena.... is ...plainly...just a hole in the wall (seriously) , some bar stools with high tables on the sidewalk and the counter but all they serve is very yummy and also very cheap !!!

If you like Chorizo... try them... You will be delighted !!! and you will be back for more !!!

It's like the Lay's commercial...!!! Bet'ya cant eat just 1
