Pluto

Pluto is a dog, that we really don't want to send to the ranch in Akumal. He is under vet care for problems with his eyes. His eyes are subject to infection, and his tear ducts do not produce adequate tears. His condition can be reversed. He needs daily eye drops, and the jungle environment would only do him more harm. Pluto is about 80 pounds of pure gentle love. Please consider fostering him until the new shelter is ready to occupy.

You Jan, Tasha, Chewy, and Eric have put a real smile on my wife Sue's face today. Brendacita is her love and her first rescue, accompanied by Aussie Gary one year ago!

Wow so much has happened at PAR in the last few days!

I so wish I could live in Playa, I would foster Parche and her beautiful babies in a heartbeat!.... hhhmmmm maybe that is why Michael doesn't want us to "retire" in playa....

So glad to see all the shelters working together for the better of the animals. Way to go everyone!!!

However, we have now had three noise complaints from neighbors, and the municipality is telling us we must remove the dogs, or they will remove them for us. Our new shelter is 8-10 weeks away from completion, so the timing is bad. We have no options, we are going to have to move all of the dogs to the ranch in Akumal temporarily. We will have someone at the ranch with the dogs on a daily basis, working to keep them safe and well during the completion of the build out of the new shelter. We hope to have all the dogs safely in the new shelter within 8 to 10 weeks.

Now more than ever we need help with adoptions and fostering. We will do all that we can to keep the dogs safe in Akumal, but it is not the ideal spot for them. Do you have room in your heart and your home to take one of our dogs for adoption or foster. They are all lovely dogs that will make a loving pet. Please help us to help these dogs.

Really sorry to hear about having to move all the dogs from the puppy house. It looks like the new shelter is coming along well, though.

We wish we were there to help with the fostering, etc., too. But since we can't we just added a little extra to our sponsorship donation to help with your costs. Wish we could do more.
Good luck and keep up the great work!

The move to the ranch

With the help of many, all of the animals have been moved to the ranch in Akumal. They will be watched VERY carefully, and someone will be there taking care of them.

On the road!

Everyone getting used to the new surroundings. They all settled in very nicely!

A very big Thank You to everyone that helped make this possible. We couldn't have accomplished it without your help!!!

What a week for Playa Animal Rescue, I understand the contractor is adding 7 workers this Monday for a fullblown effort to complete the new shelter as soon as possible. You can still sponsor a run and have your sign on it. Also looking for companies or individuals with the resources and a big heart for dogs to sponsor some of the larger items. Please visit our website to see what has been sponsored and which components are still available to be underwritten. Please consider being part of this PDC charity.

Does PAR use Frontline Plus? I saw Sam's Club's version Pet Armor (same ingredients as Frontline Plus) for $12.91 for 3 doses for dogs up to 22 lbs. I have paid almost $50.00 for Frontline Plus at my vet, and WalMart's price for Pet Armor is $28.00. If the ingredients are the same, no sense in paying for the name, right? I'd bring some with me, if needed.
