Young Honey Mooners Help
Okay! I was just informed that my son will be marrying his girlfriend when he comes back from his deployment in Afghanistan.
My hubby and I have been to playa many times and have decided to send them on a honeymoon to Playa as a wedding gift. I need opinions on where to book them?It will have to be an all inclusive so I know they will eat all week, lol. And preferrably somewhere within walking distance to 5th ave. The places I've stayed don't have much of a young people vibe, except Sandos Beach Playacar did but it's a long long walk to fifth from there, lol... So please tell me what would be good for 20 years olds!! And it needs to be on the lower side of the price scale... I've seen grand cocoa bay for around 1800 for five days so somewhere similar to that price range would be great! Thanks in advance! |

I didn't think Grand Coco Bay was a very highly rated hotel?
But I could be thinking of another one?And 1800 for 5 days seems a bit steep for that hotel....we just paid less than that for a ten day trip to the Barcelo Palace, each, from way up here....unless you mean total? ![]() ![]() For a romantic honeymoon place, I would look at Mahekal. Beachfront on a great beach, semi AI option, and easy walk to everywhere.

I like the Mahekal idea too. 2 meals are included and it can be breakfast & dinner, or breakfast & lunch. That means they would get to "go out on the town" for one meal a day, which is fun. Great reviews on Trip Advisor, and right on the beach. Also, walking distance to the center of town.

Thanks KJtom.. We are very very proud of him.. He enlisted at 17, turned 19 as soon as he got to afghanistan and earned a purple heart within the first two weeks of being there... it's been quite a journey for him.
Yes. $1800 was air/insurance/transfers and the hotel for 6 days so i thought it was a pretty good price... and that was a guesstimate basically, might be a little cheaper than that, 1700 or so.. Anywhere the two of them go will probably be the nicest place they have ever stayed since neither have been anywhere, lol.. I just want to make sure they can walk to 5th and it's all inclusive since they probably won't have a lot of cash with them.. The Royal would be great but it's just way to expensive! We have stayed at the Gran Porto and love it but I'm looking for something thats AI and on a budget... We stayed at The Reef last year and we liked it a lot but it is so small and not much young people their age it didn't seem... Thanks everyone! I appreciate it!!

Might want to check into the RIU Lupita !!! AI in Playacar and they have a FREE shuttle service that picks you up at the front door every 1/2 hr. and will drop you off by the front gate ( Playacar is a gated community ) and from there you are on the begginning of 10th ave. OR 5th ave. ( 3 min. walk either way ) The Lupita is a RIOT ! They have a GREAT poolside bar open till early am and the crowd is alot of fun there ! The rooms are very nice and come with a liquor dispensor ( btls of liquor ) and a small fridge with sodas & water ! The food is decent enough and they have entertainment on stage everynight as well as the staff have games during the day by the pool ! Just don't forget to get into Playa !

![]() The Real PDC is right on Fifth and they use the Gran Porto Real's beach club....it's about 3 stars but well-liked....the El Tukan we have stayed at twice but non AI, it is on Fifth, great location, and has a lovely courtyard and smaller pool....basic but nice place and you have enough money leftover for dinners out, a tour or two....

We stayed there in Dec 2008, and thought it was ok, especially for our dirt cheap price. The people we took there, it was their first trip, and they returned in Dec 2010 and hated it, as it had "changed" (doesn't everything to some degree ). Anyway, some of the things you posted above were no longer available - for instance they had trouble with the shuttles, the fridges weren't restocked all week (no water bottles) and the liquor dispensers were no longer in the rooms.

It's not, major budget property. Not a fan. I'd look into the Viva Maya in Playacar, prices out well and better quality than the Grand Coco Bay IMO. You can check the Riu Tequila too (better option than the Riu Lupita which none of our US tour operators seem to carry anyway).
