Thank you so much for taking the time to share your trip with us! I loved your pics, the videos and writing!! We hope to go this year and because of you, la Piola is a must! I cannot wait!

David and I always go to Walmart the first day to buy cat food and small plates. We love feeding the cats that hang out where we stay. This past Aug we were able to trap a feral male and he was neutered. The cocos volunteer was so sweet and met us early in the morning of the day we were leaving so we could see his release back into his home territory. We too have 3 cats and I cannot imagine living without these soulful characters, they are so much a part of our lives.

Thank you again, loved your report and especially loved learning that we are not the only early risers and, therefore...early to bed peeps in PDC !! Party animals we are not!

Thanks...glad you guys enjoyed the report. I love doing the blog - it's fun to go back to it and read it again later, and it's always fun to add to it.

We're going back to Mahekal in early June and can't wait! Hopefully this time no big problems like hurricanes, sprained feet and ATM problems!!!

Sharon - that's so nice that you buy food for the cats. I told hubby recently that next trip I am going to bring some food with me, but I think your idea is actually better. We usually go to Walmart anyway so we'll just pick up some food there.

The little pouches of Whiskas are about $.60 at Walmart and I buy small styro plates to pour the food on. We sit and watch them eat and toss the plates in the trash so we aren't littering. The cats reside mainly in the area near a bar so we enjoy a drink or two while we are feeding them. The same 3 cats have been there for several years and they are very sweet once the get used to us.
