The Ludmila Confessions

One of the things I have loved most about living in Playa del Carmen has been the interesting characters I've met over the years.

A handful of months back, I met a woman who is, hands down, the most fascinating person I've met in ages, and perhaps ever. Ludmila's life is so colorful as to be almost unbelievable, but after spending time with her as she reminisces and seeing her photographs and mementos, my skepticism evaporated.

With the help of her close friend and writer, Phil, Ludmila has been working on telling her story. Since I have worked as a freelance writer/editor throughout my life, I agreed to help her edit/shape her work.

I created a blog for her, the first installment of which was published today. We will meet each Saturday for a few hours and publish a new blog each week, from stories written/edited by either Phil or myself.

I hope you enjoy The Ludmila Confessions as much as I do.

What a great story
In fact, it is so good that you might want to think about making it into a movie script, so don't put too much out there on the internet ....

My Dad's mom's life paralleled a similar situation. She was a prima ballerina during the depression and married a famous photographer.
They moved to Hollywood...etc....
The woulda- and coulda-been stories that might have happened in regards to her life were amazing...very, very similar to this woman's....

The blog is to draw attention to her story/generate interest. A screenplay pitch is in the works and will be submitted once we feel we have some interest. Ludmila's story is protected under a creative commons license.

In this day and age, agents do not consider or accept unsolicited manuscripts. Blogs are a great way to make things happen for oneself, but yes...there is a lot that will be held back in the interests of future projects.

Great start! Sounds like it's going to be a good story. I was trying to google her, but the blog doesn't give her full name.

She has had, like, six last names. I can't get a guy to marry me once and Ludmila's had five husbands...hahaha

This could have the makings of a great story, especially in the current economy! It sounds as if this woman may have overcome much adversity and could serve as an inspiration if the story evolves in that direction. I think that could appeal to a vast audience. I will be looking for more.

I haven't done any writing yet, just some consulting/editing and I set up the blog for her. She's a bit of a Luddite, naturally, so I help her and her husband with their little computer dilemmas. She's just an interesting person to spend time with, her stories are so amazing and the PHOTOS, wow.

I want her to make her story known, she wants it so badly and has been working so hard the last 6 years or so on this.
