Airport Shuttle price increase?
Hello to all you wonderful people! I have been lurking here for some time now and immensely enjoy and learned alot on this board. Thank you.
I was looking on the cancun airport website and saw a price of $23us one way for the airport shuttle to Playa, has the price gone up from $15? This is not a private van, this is the airport shuttles white/yellow vans, that you purchase your ticket for at the airport exit. Can anyone officially confirm this price increase? Also have read posts with many different prices for a taxi from Cancun airport to Playa, ranging from $27 to $65! What is the usual price of a taxi? I usually have good negotiating skills. Would a taxi be cheaper if going to the roadside to haul one instead of at the airport? Your thoughts? We are 4 people traveling so if the shuttle has gone up to $23 p/p, then a taxi just might be the option. I am aware of all the private vans out there, Brant, this forum etc... I am looking for the cheapest way to Playa. We were going to take the Riviera Bus, but darn the last one out is 8:30pm and our flight arrives at 9:15pm dratts! Your input is greatly appreciated! |

Hi,
Just got back Thursday and we took the Riveria bus for 65 peso per person one way. As we were walking to the bus, we were approached by a shuttle driver and he said $30 to PDC for the two of us - so seems the $15 is still right. These were the vans close to where the bus departs. BW |

re: airport shuttle
You might ask your hotel if they can send a collectivo for you or just take the shuttle ... a cab has to be like $50 and I don't see many cabs holding four passengers and their luggage very well as the trunks are not exactly huge

or a private van, no stops, waiting for you with your name on a sign is 64 dollars, booked via this site. If there are four of you it's a no brainer. That's 16 a head.
PlayaInfo even manages to earn a couple dollars on the service, so you are supporting this site. That's good, right? |

Thank you all!
Your input is very welcomed and helpful. I thought it quite odd that everyone is saying the shuttle is $15 p/p and that the airport website states $23p/p, either its a markup or they anticipate a price change sometimes soon. When we went last time it was also $15p/p. Thanks again to all of you!

Airport transfers anyone
Perhaps the $23 is to allow some flexibility to those providing the service.
I always get asked for $18 and then have to break the news that I know I can ride for $15. For our April trip there are more than four of us, so we get to ride in style. The airport transfer service offered on this site is not only a good deal, in fact it is a great deal, it is also a first class service. No hassles just look for the sign as you leave the baggage claim area and ride to Playa in your own private van. You can’t do better than this deal, if you are in a group of four or more or simply want a completely hassle free arrival, book an airport transfer (you’ll find it under trip planning at the top right). |

Celebrate
It (drinks for the journey) is not a service that is normally provided.
Incidentally the airport once had a problem with a few too many celebratory cervezas being consumed between the terminal and the transportation (by the Cancun crowd, we assume) and they quickly eliminated that practice. My preference is to check into the hotel first, then run down to the beach and get that first buz near the Ocean. Of-course if you are staying at the Playa Maya you are right there. You’ll see us raising a glass to toast our arrival in Playa right there in front of the Playa Maya on the evening of April 10th. If you are really thirsty the van could probably make a quick stop some place on the highway, ask the driver. And don’t forget to be extra generous with the tip. |

Went to Playa del Carmen via van last week and paid $15, so the price is still unchanged. Unfortunately, we had an inexperienced driver with no concept of where any of the passenger's hotels were located. After his bungled attempt at finding Hotel Ojo de Agua, I was elected the guide and managed to get everyone to their new digs... except for one. He and the driver are probably still out there searching.
I have no clue what the taxi rate is from the airport to Playa del Carmen but from Playa del Carmen to the airport is $350 pesos. Jimmy |

so using our service helps you avoid what JimmyMN went through (although knowing him, he probably had a good time even while being delayed
) since you'll be going directly to your destination without other stops. If you are headed to a new place, our driver checks it out before departing to minimize confusion.

Wife and I recently used the Riviera Bus and it was very comfortable and clean. Even showed part of a movie. The a/c was a little to high and you will need to get from the PDC bus station to your hotel, but it was better than the shuttle we took back to the airport, which btw was $15 usd.
