Playa Del Carmen vs Rina = Cabo!!!
After 6 months of extensive planning , price shopping and to the hour itinerary's,
Hurricane Rina changed all of our plans 1 1/2 days before we were to leave for Playa Del Carmen. Although Rina had been downgraded to a tropical storm, the 10 day outlook was windy rainy and cold so a last minute change was agreed by my wife,,,and me too she tells me. So she searched the other side of Mexico and finds the Riu Santa Fe in Cabo San Lucas. Having never really known anything about this place and no time for online research, we were on our own. Let me tell you we were not disappointed at all and maybe had a better trip than we would have had in PDC. Ill post some pictures and story's of our Hotel " Riu Santa Fe" ,this place is awsum!! and of the city. |

Our first day we spent mostly drinking , swimming and eating , I'm pretty good at most of that stuff.
![]() A view of the courtyard , my wife and son. ![]() The beach in front of the hotel is not safe for swimming although many did, and some have died so I heard. ![]() One of the pools overlooking the bay, My son and I played water polo every day. Oh yes , and we stayed 13 days so I have many more boring pictures. |

The entertainment crew at the Riu santa fe were all top notch and took a liking to my son, They included him in the crew introductions and let him dance with them,,and I have a funny video once I learn how to upload it.

The Dolphins
Ok , so we told our son if he behaved this trip -unlike last- he could ride the dolphins. Little did we know it was much more expensive here and they wanted
35 dollars a photo and wouldn't let you bring in a camera for yourself. Well being the cheap-ass that I am,, I thought I would climb to the top of the very high hill-mountain? ,did I say very high? and long haul in the 90 degree heat..I needed the exercise anyway, and take pictures with my zoom lens. Here are a few of my hard earned photos. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And here is a shot of the Cabo San Lucas Bay from my vantage point. ![]() The Riu Santa Fe sits just to the left of the cruise ship in the far right of the bay. The dolphin pool is the round pool bottom left. And the Pacific Ocean is behind me.It is a fairly easy walk around this entire bay to see Cabo Wabo ,Senior Frogs, The Giggling Marlin ,a large upscale mall and the street peddlers, hustlers and boat tours. It seemed here that a easy nod of the head or just a no and the peddlers left you alone unlike the barkers that hounded us in Cancun. I'm hoping Playa Del Carmen is this way since we are re-planning our trip for May.

A sunrise picture.
![]() This is one of the glass bottom boats that take you where ever you want to go from the beach in front of the hotel. 10 bucks will take you on a lands end ,the arch and sea lions tour plus drop you at lovers beach till you are ready to go back. ![]() Or if you get seasick easily you can sit in the swim-up bar and catch the view also. ![]()
